Fox Star is such a huge conglomerate and has been around for nealry a century. They know the business and have the clout to open their cinema in the areas and theatres which would make a lot of business sense. Jayant, I think you have a good debate here. I also support your reasoning whole heartedly. I think that Fox would definitely have two distinct strategies in mind. They have SRK to market for the Indian staying abroad and they have James Cameron directed Titanic to market to the female audiences!! Clearly two different strategies and two different stars that would attract two different stratas of moviegoers all over the globe. I do not see any clash here but instead I see the box office going ballistic for the SRK starrer and Avatar both!! Nice one again Jayant!!

I agree with purvi especially her point who doesn't know's Sharukh Khan. Atleast a 100 crore Indians do knoe him and that is a huge market for anyone. Avatar being a hollywood movie will get great exposure in rural India just because of Shahrukh Khan and as we all know that is huge audience for anyone. Avatar will certainly gain for being associated with My Name is khan and vice versa.

This marriage should be successful on following grounds: 1.Exposure of new technology for Bollywood (Like Adlabs deal with a Singapore based group) so as to have better (digital) picture quality, saving distribution costs & help in reducing piracy. 2.Worldwide audience. 3.Backing of huge funds. 4.Strengthening international accreditation of Bollywood. 5.Bollywood movies specially with emotional subjects may find a better market abroad with such efforts. 6.It should change mindset of producers to make movies of international standards & audience. 7.Opening new vistas for international awards.

I would not agree with Ms. Sonam here as what Jayant has rightly pointed that both these movies are most awaited in both Hollywood and bollywood, and this gives them a common platform for them to get more audience for their respective films ,and this is for the first time that a Bollywood biggie like My name is khan will be opening for the biggest movie ever in Hollywood like Avatar. And I am surely excited to watch both of them. And the world also will get a glimpse of the biggest star of bollywood and most of them know who Shahrukh is and I am so sure that My name is khan will be the biggest money grossing film in bollywood.

Avaneendra I agree with you. Even I have a doubt why these two films are compared. There is lot of difference between the Hollywood and Bollywood how can we compare that. The main I feel is the taste and culture is different, so I don't think it will be successful.

I wonder what they would do in the Second week of the movie. label it as "Avatar Khan". Mebbe if thats not palatable to Tigers of Mumbai, they may even try " Navi Mumbai Khan" A U.P friend once remarked to me after the opening credits of a Fox movie." Yeh kaisa naam rakhthe hain yeh log. Beesvi shatabdhi ka lomdi". Lol. I think he must be having the last laugh. Fox or no fox, the hype only survives for a few days and no body cares in U.P or A.P. If its one more song and dance movie good. Other wise lets stick to raving reviews and have a peek at it because some one writing a Sunday review touched my middle class sensibility.

As per the history Shahrukh and Kajol pair is really work and this pair got super hit in Block Bluster. But i don't think so this time. Because this film is surrounded by controversies.

No I don't think this marriage will stand a chance in coming days, its a stop gap relation between these two films, both are much awaited, Avatar promos look really good, I don't know how My name is khan will fare among the audiences across the world, it will be something really different for the western audience for the first time, but nothing spectacular that will happen, and it will just create that buzz which will be always there when there is a shahrukh movie.

I absolutely believe this will biggest FLOP. Guys just think about two different culture here! Hollywood is about war, heroism, valiant and toughness all the way. And Bollywood is all about Love, mushiness, the elaborated and colorful song sequences, sorrow and more sorrow and playing on the sentiments of people to have a good cry. Come on! when will K2 Jodi (Karan & Khan) ever get it. People of India are done with the same old theme more crying and more sacrificing. Those two guys still believing they can rely on people sentiments to get Box office Hit. Numb Skulls! Avatar The biggest Hyped and Highest budget movie to ever release will tend to be flop show. Yes! Even the teaser trailers hasn't been able to pull the crowd. The story line to this particular movie is very much similar to animated movie Terra (which Hollywood big wigs didn't really promote that well because of its similarity to much awaited HYPE) Given choice of which I would rather see than put my eyes on freezer block. I would definitely say Avatar. America will definitely warm up to watching Indian movies because most of them there go to see the elaborated color filled sets or jhatkas, and short skirts - Once that dies down. All thatwill be left with is a bunch of BOLLYWOOD PRODUCERS saying DUH!! What Happened??

I don't think so, only few movies can afford such placements and not all, just because the movie My name is khan is associated with Fox it is happening, if not its very hard to see hollywood studios partnering with Indian films. only very few and that will not do good for the entire bollywood, it will be a passing phase which will make consumers to take notice and later fades away.

I don't think that this strategy will do good for My name is khan as there are very few takers in hollywood for bollywood movies, may be in places like UK and Canada which has higher number of Indians, there it might work, but apart from giving them the glimpse of this movie, I guess a trailer will be showed before the movie starts, and this will do no good for My name is khan which is the most awaited movie in bollywood.
