As today being world's Aids day a major study published in the New England Journal of Medicine shows that using anti-retroviral drugs among high risk populations can cut the risk of getting infected among non-HIV positive people by half.

It is a breakthrough that is likely to impact AIDS prevention policies across the world. The Preexposure Prophylaxis Initiative (iPrEx) study conducted by the Gladstone Institutes in the US looked at the impact of using anti-AIDS drugs to bring down infections among the most vulnerable populations.

Would HIV Aids ever have a cure just as Polio?

Lot of advances in the medical research have happened lately especially in the search of cure for HIV. I believe there will be a drug soon.We are able to restrict the multiplication of the virus today to a great extent and someday we will be able to destroy it too.

It doesn't seem like there would be a day when there would be a cure for Aids. Even though science has progressed, Aids is a such kind of disease that once you are infected to it, there s nothing which could be done but wait till the person dies with sufferings. So I don't think this drug which would be out can be helpful to the HIV infected, there is no point in giving statements until it has been successful.

For every problem, there must be some solution. Science and technology is progressing, but the mindset of taking their inventions to the affected is lacking. Some of the NGOs are doing yeoman service in this paradigm, but a large part of them are making money from the international corridors, seeking donations from various countries under the guise of advocacy campaigns, etc.

The Science what we have today is much more developed when compared to the olden days. None of them would have expected to in the earlier days that there would have been a cure for polio or malaria. But today as science has progressed we would definitely have a cure for the HIV Aids in the coming future. We can trust science as day to day it has been progressing. So there would be a day when there would be no deaths because of Aids.
