 After fighting through the recession, many executives are tired of the battle. They’re not enjoying the work they do anymore. Their jobs aren’t as rewarding as they once were.

 A few steps from the C-suite, their employees are experiencing the same lack of inspiration and energy. They’re dissatisfied with their roles and are likely tempted to leave for the next available job opportunity.

But the end doesn’t have to be near for both executives and their employees. For many, they can rediscover the passion and enthusiasm for their work by conducting a restart of their jobs and careers. Starting with a clean slate can provide a new perspective and renewed focus for everyone in the workforce today.

If you are not interested in what you are doing it is better to start a new career. It is not possible to give your best, which you don't like. There are ample of opportunities around us, we should make use of it for our development.......

New start will give you more spirit, enthusiasm and more space to learn......

If an executive recognizes some of the warning signs like;

• The organization is in trouble (financials, cash flow)

• Role issues (peers complaining or getting territorial)

• Personal mismatch (they’re not enjoying it)

• Learning coming slowly

it’s time to formulate a process to restart their jobs. Adding Value, it suggest a “re-boarding” process, which, like onboarding for a new position, “should focus on developing a mastery of the business and its culture and creating strong relationships.” They say executives should have specific goals and activities for each of these areas, also similar to the onboarding process. “Relationship building mid-stream in their tenure may initially seem uncomfortable at first”. “But there’s nothing wrong with saying, I’d like to learn more about the product development process. Could you spare an hour in the next few weeks to chat?’”

The Topic gives the suggestion that Jobs in India are just for the asking. We must remember there are only a fortunate few who are in demand - and this are few indeed! The majority will have to take it as it comes and make the best of it.  And remember during a recession and immediately after it changing jobs are very difficult

After recession, at least one positive thing that people have got aware of is the so called term "job" is no longer a constant source of money. Nothing is permanent as claimed. So, it was much about the mindset of people, that led them into troubles after recession. So even if the same work is done, with a different mindset, with an approach similar to business rather than just a job, then imo, one may restart in the same career, and achieve in a better way. This is specifically when you talk about people, who have gone through a bitter taste of recession.

Contemplating a Restart

Executives can begin to explore the career restart process by asking themselves some important questions about their current situation, Among them:

• Am I as engaged and enthusiastic about my job and the organization as I was when I first started? If not, why not?

• Have I given my best effort to address or change the root causes of my disengagement? Am I avoiding a difficult conversation with a co-worker or client that could help me break through and become re-engaged?

• Am I pursuing my true career goals, living my values and using my best talents?
