fantastic points by Vishab. I have been in recruitments from 10 years now and I have seen all kind of possible or non possible formatted , diff font size, color, summary, etc etc, its not applies only to freshers, its same with lot of 8-20 yr professionals. their summary is not crisp, short, meaningful. Hiring managers takes a call in max 10-20 seconds from resume. they dont have time to read all the part, they are tuned to see relevant things. , resume writing and positioning is an art and scince both, its not paragraph writing. most of people fail. we should go with min highlights, lesser words, simple english, proof read for grammar check. There is no company in India. Naukri just format your resume and send it back. There is a need of personal service, where some senior person speaks to associate, do profiling, role alignment, positioning.

Hi I feel the over all discussion is around the assumption that only freshers resume have issues. My experience shows that even at senior level there are obvious and blatant errors or misrepresentation of facts. This is because - a lot of them do not have the expertise in "presenting" themselves appropriately - although i have not experience but a lot of candidates these days outsource resume writing to a "supposed to be professionals" who sometimes have no clue of how to write a resume - English language skills is not considered important in the technical education, which impacts once career later.

All candidates are serious about getting a job, the reason why their resumes contain bloopers are: - Inability to express in words - Use of copy/paste where they themselves never had used those words earlier - Advise from all sort of people, which makes them confused how to order things
And these bloopers simply proves that they are FRESHERS! Cheers!

The students are always confused about their skills.\ For instanc eif you ask them to put the skills they posses at times they have a full page of them and at times nothing, when it comes to preparing the resume they are not sure what to put and what not, they land up making such mistakes. I believe that there is a lack of trainig to these set of students.

Its the race for making the first impression!! And it doesnt miss anyone... I mean anyone. You want a job, coveted one at that, fitting your skill set like a "T",.. Thats the price you pay for being 'EXTRA' accomodative! I also believe that people who are serious about projecting the right image of their skills are sometimes at a crossroad. How much will be enough? What adjectives would suffice? What descriptors would say what I want to and in How many words?? Its all a part of showing your best and putting your best foot forward. And thats when the foot gets caught in the door jamb!! There are enough guidlines available on the net for interested people to take lessons from. So its not lack of training, its more of a over entusiatic effort! Thanks for the referral Vishab!

This may also be an over zealous effort to get a foot in the door. Since most corporates use some sort of software to screen CVs for keywords; freshers may feel that they are smart and can beat the system. What they don't realize is that shortlisted CVs are also manually read and their discrepancies are caught. They don't pay enough attention to detail and thereby ruin their chances for bagging the job.

I believe its happening because young generation don't take interviews seriously. As they feel their Communication skills and their good looking personality will landup a lucrative job for them. And they ignore Resume part .But they dont realize why they are getting rejected by the employeers. But yes , its serious matter which require attention from the candidates.

i dont think that this reflects candidates seriousness, its lack of training, to be specific English training. He might genious, may be his background didnt help him to be trained in english.

I dont know which side to support. Simple "YES" or "NO" does not help...but anyway. The situation is both comic and grim. The knowledge (or the lack of it) of language is one of the major factor according to me. If you look at the spirit of those sentences, most of them really want to express something great but could not word it properly.
