Chinese investors should employ more Indians to run their projects in India instead of carrying large number of workers from China. This is New Delhi’s latest response to complaints concerning India’s reluctance to grant enough visas for Chinese workers. The statement comes at a time when several Indian companies have joined the chorus along with their Chinese partners about increasing the issuance of visas for Chinese workers. The Indian government remains miserly on this count because large inflow of foreign labor can thwart skill development and cause heart-burning among Indian workers. Is this a right move from the Indian Govt??

I am strongly against China and chinese products we have imported..!!
The step taken by our Govt is absolutely right..!
We have a history of being getting ditched by so many nations, not to specifically say.. And this time it's China..! we must oppose chinese investors and ban chinese products for they are meant to destroy our Indian markets and are harmful like anything..all recycled and lead based products!! trust me..

Streamlining of visas procedures was regarded as an important move as Chinese investment and participation in a host of Indian projects was increasing.

Every economy has to strike an right balance between low cost and local economy. Since India has abundant source low cost wage workers it is not advisable to import labor's. A cheap labor coming to India will be an net consumer hence increase pressure on economy. Every country does this discrimination hence India is taking a right step towards saving local interests.

absolutely ya , we must stop all these Chinese  invasion Tactics .

When a Chinese product is dumped into Indian market ,  it is priced well below the local market prices , objective to absorb  the market totally in their favor , thus emphasizing on weakening of our  local market . And one day hoping to capture the market addiction for their products , to end up in a  monopoly situation .

While we talk  on their Invasion Tactics politically , the China crosses the Indian  boundaries , each year some part of India they occupy , without any shame , playing hide & seek , so smart to get into our territorials like a Fox , really cunning !!!

Thus if Chinese Laborers are encouraged here , it would end up us in losing the position of occupying the largest Man power occupant country .

You know china Always Comes  up with something New , like a Cunning Fox , but our government is always Circumspect   of the Situations to act wise !!! .

Though persoanlly I am against any restrictions but if teh same is against China - I agree as TIT for TAT. China is not a free country and recent Google episode has further made dent in their image. So any restriction against China is welcome.

The Chinese are welcome to invest and do business providing they employ Indian blue collar work force and contractors. The government is the correct thing of not giving labors visas to the Chinese

Look at the human recourses, skilled labours, talent pool of our country. We are no way less competent than the Chinese counter parts. The scientific resources management is the answer to solve the problem. Recently, some of the Chinese engineers arrested by the police from one of the Industrial site in Orissa due for use of filth language to  Indians. The language is also a problem which is not properly understood even if a translator is available. There must be some criteria that the International bidders should take the responsibility of learning the local language to their employees in short term to know each other at site. The decision of not granting Visa to chinese labour is correct, but the above mentioned problem needs to be addressed.

India's decision not to issue visa to Chinese labourers is in line with international trends and absolutely justified. There is not much to debate in this.

The nations have opened up their economies to free flow of capital, business opportunities and high skills & technology. Not for population transfer.

The South East Asia countries have guidelines for issuing work permits to migrant workmen. The investing companies can employ only one manager for each department. For deployment of workmen, the company has to give justification that, the particular skill is not available in their country and take prior approval.

China is also following strict norms in issuing visas to migrant workmen from other countries. Hence, India is fully justified to taking such steps to safeguard interests of her own work force.

I think this is a right move from the government to stop providing visas to Chinese workers as it will be a threat to labourers in India. The companies from other foreign countries did not feel the need to carry their own workers to projects in India, which has a vast reservoir of skilled employees and a long history of industry and entrepreneurship.

Come on guys....if chinese products are not allowed in India, then how can our companies have competency.....You see after the chinese produts flud, the branded items' rates got decreased. Weren't they??? That is useful for the very common people. And what we are doing,,,,sending out people to Dubai to serve their people...I think these two issues are same..Rule is rule ..Rule for all......

Just to shift the perspective:

1. Almost all Indian IT companies source job from US and Europe.Their Engineers(mostly Indians) work onsite. These countries provide Visa to these engineers to work there. If they stop giving Visa, what happens? These companies go bankrupt as they work on economy of scale. They survive because Indian techies are cheaper than their US or European counterparts.

2. Most of the construction companies including Bigwigs like L&T,through International Competitive Bidding get projects in UAE ,Singapore ,Malaysia where their Indian Engineers, supervisors, artisans work for years until the project completes.

3.Most of the Indians go for higher studies abroad, get jobs there and get settled. It will not be out of place to mention Sikhs are voice to reckon with in London.

Now coming to the source of problem, with more of Chinese laborers' influx Indians may not find work.Point is valid.Unemployment is looming large in India but banning Chinese laborers is a populist methods which has been put forward by Indian politicians as very much expected by them and it has very well served its purpose with everybody supporting it but before we conclude there are few things to ponder:

1.Why these projects are not being done by a Indian company ? Are they not competitive enough?

2. Why there are so many unskilled laborers but very few skilled ones ? Why our politicians are not trying to provide opportunities to upgrade their skills ?

3. Chinese supposedly bring their workers because they are cheaper. Now can somebody tell me when half of India is  below poverty line still why they are unable to find cheaper workers here ?

India had been a closed economy for years just because of fear that Indian companies may not stand competition but  to everybody's surprise they have outperformed themselves after liberalization. Kudos to TATA's they bought Jaguar and they bought Corus.Lets fight Chinese by our abilities and not by our conservativeness. If we follow the latter what difference is between them and us?
