As you said, it is a value added service to Indian community. It will have an edge over other phone by doing this. Of course, the price tag has impact on the purchaser because, of availability of choice. Music & camera feature can not assure a selling but, the enhancing facility to use these (MMS, Video call/conferrencing etc.) need to be improved in the forthcoming years. Overall, this will give a positive impact on population.

Store in Store is more of a marketing technique than it is retail. The objective is to capture the customers attention and influencing it, at the point of sale. To this extent Nokia should be able to improve their sales figures by a noticeable margin. Still it is highly unlikely that Nokia will be able to recapture all the marketshare that it has lost to competition since there will always be a customer segment who prefer the cheaper manufacturers. What customers now have on their side is CHOICE and that's here to stay.

I think they can regain their lost market share with added services like this since PC and broadband penetration is low in India, it is important to build a retail distribution model to take services to the masses, this will be a platform which will have immense possibilities and the potential to transform the services business as they can tap their huge dealer network.

They're having a hard time now cause for me I think they forgot to evolve. 1. the low end segment is now being dominated by China branded phones (at least in my country) 2. The high end segment is now being dominated by Smartphones (Apple, RIM and HTC among others) 3. The mid-end segment is what's left and this is where Samsung and LG are fighting with them tooth and nail. fixing their own distribution system is good but we have to consider the products that they will be offering as well....

I do not think so, looking at competition in Indian handset market its going to be very difficult as local firms are giving Nokia tough competition, Further as Indian consumer is also very cost minded they are lapping cheap sets with both hands.

not really! Nokia captured bulk of its erstwhile market share, in the absence of a lot of the competition today. No way saying that Nokia phones are not good enough, just that there are many more equally good - though Nokia phones are most user friendly! Regaining that market share would be an uphill task, with so many more savvier customers today & asking for much more than just music phones or those with hi resolution camera's. For example, many find the Blackberry handsets irreplaceable & wonder how they ever managed without one all these years - yes, I see Blackberry taking away a major share, as I do Apple!
