New and renewable energy sources are to be explored and generated aggressively in India and across the world. There are other forms of renewable energies other than Wind, Solar, Nuclear, Hydro..India also produce energy through Bio-mass. The other forms of energy we can explore include Tidal power, wave power..India with long coast line can explore these alternate energies too..these alternate energies might be currently expensive, however new technologies are bound to bring the effective prices of alternate lower.

There is also great potential for Geothermal energy in India..however currently most public and private agencies are considering Wind, Solar and Nuclear energies only. These alternate energies can vastly reduce the carbon footprint and global warming.

I agree with you Mr. Dikshit that one should go for Non-conventional, but Non conventional form of energy to produce is very costly and Government giving subsidies to produce this form of energy is not helping the cause as such, but if use conventional form of energy in a better way where there is no wastage of power during the transmission, as is the case today where most of the power is lost while transmitting it, if we manage to better transmit the power where there is no wastage at all then this will do a lot good, i think smarter energy grid is what we need now and not conventional which costs more......

Yes, there are already many available Alternative Solutions and all we need to is spread the good word.

With the dwindling oil & gas reserves & their effects on planet, one has to consider the non-conventional energy resources in the near future. Among these the nuclear, wind, solar & energy from flowing water can be harnessed with good results. Nuclear power plants are now common across developed countries while wind farms are fast gathering momentum. If the government can just lend a helping hand, the rural & isolated communities will also be able to produce enough energy for themselves through wind farms. The same is applicable everywhere, with some initiative.

I like to stand with the words of Mr. Shashi. In the present scenario were we are experiencing lack of hydro energy resources, its really affecting the lives of people & it has become an headache for our govt too.

So I would say that the govt has to decide in using more of non conventional power resources & develop more non conventional resources to generate energy so that we can face the current energy crisis.

NEW FORM OF UNCONVENTIONAL ENERGY SHOULD BE DISCOVERED AND ADOPTED BY INDIA TO COUNTER THE CURRENT ENERGY CRISIS, MORE INFRASTRUCTURE AND R&D SHOULD BE DEVELOPED TO CATER THE EVER GROWING DEMAND OF ENERGY, PRIVATE ENERGY FIRMS SHOULD BE INVITED TO EXPEDITE THE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
