Cricket's long lasting wish to be a part of olympics has finally been fulfilled  as it got a major boost with International Olympic Council (IOC) where it granted recognition to ICC.

Also with the recognition of ICC it also voted for the federations of sport climbing and power boating. And now with the recognition it means that they can take part in IOC events.

With this decision cricket and I guess most likely its Twenty20 version which is the shortest form of the game will bid to join the 2020 olympics, but still ICC has not made it clear like which format will it go with.

So with this I would like to ask users whether T20 should be allowed in olympics or ODI format?

I think T20 is the right format to be allowed to play in olynmpics, its fast, its high on adrenalin and many countries by 2020 will be playing cricket's shortest form of game, which has caught's the world's attention, I don't think test match and ODI will be a good idea, as they are thinking of shortening the ODI format in future and from my side I would like to see T20 game in olympics which surely will be a hit among the people by 2020 olympics all over the world, its now that ICC should start thinking like how they can spread cricket to other non cricket playing nations.

Good one to debate , perosnally I feel T 20 will score over 50 over each side match.

This will increase chances of teams to perfom to their best potential and India can win atleast a bronze here

in todays world of fast mood changes it is better for T20.and also after 10-15 years free time will be more scarce.

it will be good that non- cricket countries can take more and only i pray that cricket will not go hockey way for India as happened in the past from a leading Hockey nation to almost zero, as our sport Ministries are famous to slowly and steadily kill sports.

There is no option with ICC other than T20 be a part of Olympics.

T20 consumes less time and also can attract new viewers who dont know cricket at all.

I also believe that T20 will be the right direction to go for the Olympics. This is the only form that will attract non-test cricket nation to participate.

I desperately want cricket to be played in Olympics. But i think most of the teams participating in Olympics are not playing cricket.Hardly 15 nations are well known in the game cricket now-a-days,what i am thinking.

But so far our T20 format is concerned i am definitely sure that it will create a bench mark in Olympics too.I strongly agree with my friend Yash.

Yes, at last!

This should pave the way for non-cricketing countries like America start showing some enthusiasm in this otherwise very popular game in certain parts of the globe.

Since teams can not anyway be expected to participate twice in even T-20 it is better to for 40 or 50 overs match as this is better format to judge endurance.

Finally cricket is getting its place in the olympics, and thanks yash for updating on this, but I would like ODI format of cricket to go olympics than T20 which is just a batsman oriented game where bowlers gets thrashed like anything, and it would not look good if always batsmen is having the advantage, and in due course people will get  bored of seeing bowlers getting hit like anything, hence ODI will do better as both batsmen and bowlers have a equal chance and also the crowd can enjoy cricket for a much longer period.
