being somewhat elder myself one may argue that i would have a natural leaning to support this school. notwithstanding, here goes. objective thought leads me to believe that not only old is gold, but there are "pearls in their hard disks". one gets the feeling that unless you have travelled to this ripe age, how can you truly imagine what the journey offered. i find that there are several examples where younger professional fail to see the "value" the old geezers can bring to the table. it is true that salaries are based on abilities to solve today's problems and not on yesterday's experiences no matter how rich. yet, had it not been for the shared experiences of the elders, the younger would not be where they are. can we wish away our past? can we make it unhappen? we must accept that it will always remain with us - we can dress it up the way we want. incidently, have we of the modern world invented any timeless proverbs yet ? i wonder. with regards

New stands upon the old. Old is the base on which new is generated. If we deny the old, we deny our existence.

Technology is converting Humans match its creation -Zoombies. No longer is the man utilising technology, it is turning the other way around and in not so distant future one may find pills being popped instead of gourmet delights and the next generation may be asking which company makes best mangoes? and so on...No one cares every air-conditioner is heating the surroundings nearly 8 times the cooling it generates inside and appears someone has decided to dump all their glass into this country it may suit aesthetics and climate or not. This ruthless destruction of nature and its elements can only lead us back to stone age albeit looking different, we have made the beginning with these glass houses without realising......... What good is a technology if it can not help conserve and better life and nature..we must ponder.

Beena ji,you are right.Unless and until we preserve and protect our "OLD" things and cultures I don't think we can progress more in our so called "Modernisation" since Old is the Basis of New development. We also should keep knowledge about our ancestral things and their history since "History Repeats itself" In my school days,i read--If we don't know our past,Its very difficult to progress in our future since past decides our present and this will decide our future. So,we should preserve our old culture and tradition since it is basis of our development.

I totally agree with you markand..and even in the old days we were having same sort of problems..and even now...but the solutions remain the same till date, but has been given new names to it and are applying the same methodologies to solve a problem...its just that by defalut they were knowing what to do...but in today's scenario one gets paid to do the same things.....so Yes Old is Gold for me....one can never forget the Basics from which he started...

Modern India. We see glass facade buildings, sky scrappers, security
systems, cctv, technology making advances by leaps and jumps... You can
chat with cam, you can mail any part of the globe to reach a person or
your goal. Connectivity via internet, air, sea...
BOOM!! Hi tech world...
We
still talk about - Team Work, We still talk about nuclear families, we
still talk about environment issues, pollution, rain water management,
waste management...
The issues are the same ones but dressed in a
new attire! Arent we still clutching the OLD and proving that however
far we reach in development, but we still haven't lost our proverbs
which keep guiding us! So why shrug the past when you can use it as a
margin to improve? I see more and more people seeking these simple
statements and using them to knock COMMON SENSE amongst the masses!
Lets ask ourselves are we really INNOVATING or ARE WE USING the OLD in a new ATTIRE??
