A Manager requires a lot more than experience and degree lets not confine it two parameters. It also require skills like proactive, street smart, anticipation, man power management etc. Education is required for any position.

Experience is most important for becoming a Manager. If one has all the degrees but lacks in ability to lead or has no experience how to tackle things then all those degrees has no use.Higher degree always adds knowledge but experience is much more important.

In PG or other degrees, you learn the concepts. And with experience you put these concepts to practice and succeed. Experience is a must for becoming a Manager. But whether PG or higher degree is a must depends on the nature of the job. For a manager who is managing professionals, unless and until he knows the concepts and the basics(which are taught in college) he cannot be successful even though he is a good manager. To conclude, experience is a must. But whether PG or higher degree is a must depends on the job.

Anu, There are thousands of advertisements in media that suggests both qualification (including addded one) with experience. Still education has its own place. Getting irrelevant experience or education definitely may not serve the purpose at all.
