Exactly a year ago, on July 2nd 2009, the Delhi High Court delivered its historic verdict in the Naz Foundation case decriminalising same sex relations between consenting adults by amending Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code.

And this is where the Delhi High Court decision might help facilitate real change. Not only has it brought up discussions, but it has removed the one barrier to implementation. In the past some companies have cited the criminal status of homosexuality as an impediment to implementing this part of their diversity policies; how could they be expected to promote something that was still technically illegal? That this was always a flimsy excuse was shown by the efforts of companies that didn't let this argument bog them down, and now with the law changed, even this excuse no longer exists.

So users, will Indian society accept it now?

when we see anything uncommon we say that it is wrong. when Copernicus propounded the theory that earth is in daily motion about its axis and in yearly motion around a stationary sun against the common belief that earth is in the center of the universe he was also pretested. and the same things happen now also. heterosexuality is common practice to us.  we think it is the only right thing and any other things are wrong and not acceptable. but nobody has made any rule that we have to sex only against the opposite sex only.it is a personal preference. if without imbalancing the biological or social order everything goes on then i think there should not be any question not to accept  homosexuality or gay marriage or the like. at least in such matters we have to be some liberal.

Legalization of Gay marriages ????

How did you legally equate decriminalising same sex relations between consenting adults

to

Legalization of Gay marriages?

Any society takes time to accept anything unusual, anything minority.

One year is hardly any time, it's just the beginning.

there are no gay marriages in India.

Why not!!! Afterall in independent India every person has the right to lead their social life in their own dreamed way. since all are human beings, so no one has the right to force restrictions by the name of law in other's social life.

Had this case been going 5 years back, the Homos would have never won. Legalizing Homosexuality is a clear indication that Indian society is looking towards these kinds of things in a new way these ways and Iam sure, this is the beginning. It will take time, but in due course, it will be accepted in the society.

Hi ... U r too "quirous" which is not (actally) desirable in a very delicate issue like this.

And .. this is the core issue of India's slow progress ... the Middle Class is just "Opportunists" - they want 2remain in both side.

Dont U feel that just one years is too short ? I expect this question here in the years 2020 ... and U pls post it.
