Vikram,

Thanks for your prompt answer.

Go to your own statements"once you've shifted to Linux", but when and how? When you are on jobs, where is the chance to fiddle with your computer, wasting employers' time?Particularly in small enterprises and under the vigil of your employers through CCD cameras and hour to hour personal supervision. Or, if you are leading  your family life, where is your disposable time to devote on learning? That is what I wanted to explain.

I advise the young married recruits, to read some world class books, downloading from internet, free;still they do not find time to read!

THANKS.

I am sorry to say deepak, I think you have not seen linux desktop. Its the most user friendly software. Normally people say windows is user friendly, because schools and colleges are using it for teaching purpose.

But once a person shifts to linux, he/she do not like to go back. As far as open source is concerned i do not understand why you think they are not useful for millions of people.

After working on linux/open source for more than 9 years, i am confident in what i said above. Linux provides all the above features.

Everybody should start working on Linux and Open Source.

I agree with you on "wasting time of employeers". But shifting to linux or open source is a decision which is to be taken by employers. Once employer decide to shift them employee even if he had a family life or busy schedule prefers to learn it. Also there is nothing much needed to learn in Linux. From user point of view its as easy as windows. Only thing required of will.

Yes Vikram, you are very right as you are in the trade of I.T.

But think of the millions who are in the fields of non-I.T and taking the help of I.T  only to facilitate their own work.

Primarily, Linux or other Open source platforms are not user-friendly, unlike Windows, which has brought revolution in using computers.

Secondly, in small enterprises, staff training is totally absent for adapting new technology. No opportunity exists for imparting training! There is a vicious circle!Employers are strictly productivity and money-oriented.When there is no business,or find the recruit not much productive, employers seek alibi to throw the employee out.Same way, whenever the employee faces provocation, or another job with better benefits,he / she tries to avail the job-opportunity elsewhere.

An employee has to learn new technology only by his / her own resources, by spending his / her own money, taking leaves or remaining out of jobs, which is difficult for most.

So where is the opportunity unless you are a student and your parents are the providers?

Thanks,

Dipak Bhattacharya

Education has already been privatised. See the ratio of private verses govt institution. 95% of school, colleges are private. You will find some govt. school or college in your area but you will easily find private educational shops in every corner.
