Resession in todays senario is a skimming process which is part of the Economic cycle, or if may call it the "Correction Process". Only those companies with strong interal processes, Value systems and Most Critical, a highly motivated, focused team can survive and take the companies to the next level. This is an ideal time to take out excess fat out of the system.. Most of the companies may it be healthcare or FMCG or Automobile or Aviation, every industy or sector will use this environment to become more and more Operationally effecient and Financially sensitive.

People do say healthcare is recession proof??Though to a large extend it may be true for hospitals and Institutions who are established for more than 5yrs plus with a positive cash flow, but for a New Project (A young hospital) less than 3yrs, its very difficult times or Starting a entirely new Project will be even more difficult since all investment firms are looking for safer and short term investment riders..

I personally feel companies emerging out of this 12 to 18 months of predicted recession will be the once which will continue to grow for the next 10yrs.  I feel Operations Excellence and financial Sensitivity is Key to counter this environment.

Financial sensitivity is the key issue. Though the disease pattern and affection remains unchanged, reduced spending power of customer segments in general has done the damage to private healthcare sector.

Although operations excellence programs are not new, employing Operations Excellence to maintain a focused, disciplined approach to radically improve efficiency and capability is a way to go during this period. Operations Excellence will help in aggressively attack the costs of inefficiency and defects. Constant benchmarking, third-party audits, and rigorous superuser surveys will keep operations staff sharp and proactive.

Operational excellence is a factor of continuum essence in any economy. Its like following a healthy life style! Economy may largly remain fluid for times to come and its progress may be hindered by hundreds of factors, few beyond administrators control or comprehension. One needs to prepare and deliver unparallel quality of sevices and goods in these most competitive global environment. Results alter if financial sensititvity becomes a camel which one rides to tame the 'perceived' monster of recession.

Operational excellence & financial senstivity are totally on different side ,what I mean is that would it be possible to achieve excellence without the adequate fund flow & that too at a stage where the technical excellence is required to put the operational system at a specified benchmark.

i beg to differ on this issue.first of all let's all of us be honest to admit we are not the party to recession. Our way of work will not change from norms that has been set already.every organisation will have its own process methods and competence levels and  depends on market identity and its financial stability.it is the demand/ urge for the need to be generated to beat recession and not any operational efficiencies.

i can't totally agree with you as only operational excellence will get us out of recession, there should be more strong economic reforms by which we shall not face the same thing in the future and operational excellence is just a single thing which will help companies by not giving pink slips for the sake of cost cutting or to survive this recession, with operational excellence one can see that the funds are utilised in a better way and better productivity is brought in the organization...
