Oracle should obviously look for more in ERP(11i), because database is now a days given free with ERP.

Database is a old concept and many has capability to design database.

Database is like camera. and ERP is like Camera mobile. And business is like cost effective minded person.

There is no chance for facination.

You have integrated ERP solution covering 90% to 99% of virticals of business, combined with a database. You are winner in the race.

You have only database--You will have to depend and make alliance with ERP companies.

It's a fight between Oracle apps vs SAP.

Concur the whole world of technology by providing all solutions on earth through 1 single product and stop the war of technologies and kill the warriors of other products.

This is just business.Nothing personal.

If we go by facts then it is clearly mentioned that the company's database section is going downward. There was only a 6% database sale but if we look at the last year sales which was 32% then the great downfall in demand could be seen.

I think company should focus more on its new products. As they are striking the market the chances of grabing is more high in it.

I still strongly believe, oracle should more concentrate on databases.

I agree that its a business, and oracle has made it for long duration.

But still it should more concentrate to make available their releases for Small and Medium Businesses

at possible minimum cost. and provide maximum facilities in minimum cost.

Still small scale industries are not interested in investing such a big amount, they prefer other products.

So Oracle should concentrate more in database functionalities at minimum cost

Mr. Mukesh Kumar i agree that database is the most important aspect to focus on and if database itself is complex or not efficient then there is no point in developing or focussing on other products.

I agree that the database is the core of any system and without it won't be possible for companies to provide efficient service to their customers but should they also not develop and focus on new products like in this case oracle 11i so that more revenue generation options can be developed.

What do you think?

Needless to say, a database is the core of any ERP system. The potential power of a ERP system fully depends on scalability and performance of the database. Moreover, ERP systems often need to be customized for specific business needs, sometimes written from scratch. In this case developers need advanced tools and interfaces, which Oracle provides perfectly (PL/SQL etc.).

Anyway, the scope of database tasks is way more than just ERP. ERP is just the perticular case of the database application. On the other hand, the database is the platform for business solutions in all industries. I don't think Oracle Corp. wants to loose this huge market.

In my opinion they should focus more on there core product, because that would give them an edge over others.
