Facebook is one of the most coolest Social networking site. Their highlight is Applications and it made several disputes in International and National level. Comparing to Orkut, Orkut has a very good Discussion board and i felt more comfortable in orkut discussion boards. Facebook looks are far better than orkut.

I support this.Do you all know that ORKUT is named after a guy whose name is ORKUT and he is a s/w professional.he opened the portal with the intention to find his lost Girlfriend and now we are keeping track with 100s of our old friends through this ORKUT portal.I myself have accounts in both orkut and facebook but I prefer orkut personally for few reasons which I would like to share: 1.The user interface is more simple in orkut that facebook and you can locate the applications more easily that facebook. 2.many a time you dont even understand which is your home page in facebook because things are quite confusing and they give a fussy picture with comments and updates from your contacts and friends which are quite clear and separated in orkut in comparison to facebook. 3.In orkut you can block certain viewers from viewing the scraps which are sent by others and you can load many videos and pictures which are easy to handle, assemble and view but in facebook even these applications are there but they are very complicated and it is preferable to go for orkut. 4.Orkut is now allowing mind jolt games and other facilities like read a book and share a book, listen to music etc which are easy to find and share.The theme can be changed according to the mood and trend in Orkut making the interface customised according to the user preference. 5.You can search for a friend more easily in orkut than in facebook because facebook. Though in preliminary stages facebook and orkut started with same speed but now more and more people are getting inclined to ORKUT specially the teen aged young generation, office persons and those who want to track their lost contacts!! Facebook might have overtaken Orkut globally in terms of the number of users, but Google's social networking offering still remains the favourite in India, according to the England-based online traffic tracking firm comScore. In its latest report on social networking activity in the Asia-Pacific region, comScore says the Google-owned Orkut is ranked as the top social networking site in India, with 46.8 per cent of the nation's web population using the website. Facebook, on the other hand, ranks numero uno in Singapore, the Philippines, Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Vietnam.

We can't directly relate success or failure of an application with its features. Presentation (Interface) and marketing are key factors too. Most importantly it should address the need and expertise of the majority group. In India, for many people Orkut was the first experience of a Social Networking Site. Users in a Social Network Site are more like a flock of birds, no one would like to move out till most of the other members do so.

The immense support and popularity that orkut has allready gained is due to the orkut holds probably the giant part of indians in it. And in India the people like to social network with Indians mostly(exceptions are there). I thiink this is the main reason for which Orkut is leader in India. But Orkut must respect FB, as it is its shouldered competetor.

Mostly, Indians dont switch their brand, once they are satisfied. orkut is penetrated to all the sectors & age levels. when we compare Indians to Foreigners, we dont like to do much R&D work. we tends to follow which is popular. when comapred in discussion even this attitude will support Indians to stick to whatever they have & satisfied of. example, In communication market, Nokia is the leader in Indian market & apart from India, Ericsson & samsung are the leaders. this is becasue Nokia entered first in Indian market & peolpe fixed their mind to features & specification of Nokia. so, i strongly belive that orkut is going to leader & majority of Indians are going to stick to the same.

I dont think so, b'cause, most of the people who wanted to connect to people as professionally and personally always prefer facebook and most of the teen prefer orkut. Orkut has its own disadvantage as such its not secure and more no.of people are switching to facebook which includes me too

orkut was the trend earlier before 2-3 years, but the latest trend in the social networking is facebook.... it has gradually grap up minds of youth with new applications through games,funtime, debates as well as what up your mind.... orkut is one of the most popular site but nowdays facebook users are increasing at a very fast pace reason being new applications provided by the facebook farmville,Mafia wars and mindjolt game people etc .now orkut is considered as a boaring site coz there is nothing new but faqcebook at short intervel of time bring new applications games quizes which makes it interesting and a better site then orkut .the facebook farmville,Mafia wars and mindjolt game people are crazy about these .

Orkut doesn't provide the more functionality as compare to facebook even we just focus on application it provide more as compare to SEO it is good streaming is slow on orkut it means it take so much kb i knw its part of n/w bt even in high speed broad band it face same problem facebook lighter is dam good .

well i don't crtices either rather i would like to remove this beat/defeat phase addressing those elements that emphaisize one to use amongst either one of it for instance although myself is having both account orkut&facebook but my more inclination is towards facebook where i found many good things that stil alive my interest.

Facebook is far better than orkut , though orkut have more indian users comparing to facebook, ::))) i think i have a valid reason for that ,,,,,, But Orkut in India is leading "Because there is no option on Facebook like orkut who recently visited your profile page, which will make Indian user to go back and check who that person is and tries to get connected with that person due to which the number of connections on orkut is increasing and its a whole lot simpler compared to facebook, but I am on the side of Facebook just because of its applications which are indeed become addictive, and also there are many options that orkut lacks which will be in demand in the coming days, but todays generation will be part of more than 3-4 social networking sites.

I don't support this conclusion that Orkut can at all beat Facebook in compare to have larger audience... Facebook is like complete solution as a Social Networking Application... Components of Social Networks are well organized in Facebook as compared to Orkut... Community bases are far ahead in Facebook... and flexibility of controlled information is more powerful... From Advertising world to common friend, navigation could never be so easy before Facebook... So, precisely Facebook is complete Winner in Social Networking Segment... May be statistically, it can be proved that Orkut is more popular as users are very familiar with interface but what I sense, seeing the ongoing trend of usage Facebook will beat them easily... Because, Orkut is limited...
