Completely agree with Mr. Harendra. They should have given the due respect to padma shree award that it deserves...........no matter how busy your schedule is,when you are being honoured by the highest awards of the country then its responsibilty to turn up to recieve the award in person.

i don't say it as disrespect for the country but i say they disrespected their fans. below are my facts - They disrecpected those who selected these two for the award.
- They disrespected their fans who wait for their game.
- they disrespected the Award
They respected - money

Avik & Harendra....
You are 100% right
1) Bhajji doesn't deserve the award 2) He was involved in many controversies like 3)Slapping Sreesanth 4) Abusing Symonds 5) Spitting in the Australian grounds 6) Poor performance in 2007 world cup and was out of team 7)
If he wanted to spend time with family, he could have taken them to
Delhi to the award ceremony ! I dont think so he is poor many to pay
air fare !
Padmashri Award must not be given to motivate players......
Tendulkar, Ganguly, RAhul, Kumble, Srinath & Sehwag all deserve the award but not Bhajji.

Firstly.....It was shocking for me that harbhajan got the award in the first place after his controversies with sreesanth as well as in australia with symonds. The boxers who won awards at the olympics should have got it instead. They cannot find time to respect the highest awards and give them a miss should tell the people that for cricketers in India, it is money or nothing. Cricketers should just get money and get lost. it is really a disgraceful show. And now they will apologize and get away with anything......

I personally do not agree that they some how have brought any disrespect by not attanding Padma Shree award ceremony, this is media which is highlighting ther absence from the ceremony, but giving no details whether those both were informed for the same or not, may be BCCI or the department involved in messaging awardee people didn't properly forward the message, In case they both have message and didn't turn there after, surely the matter is to be considered and can be considered as disrespect to the nation. in case they didn't recieve massage they are not to be blamed, this is BCCI or the daprtment involved

yes i totally agree with Tanmay here on his comment....it's not players who are disrespecting....it's the BCCI committee, they could have easily avoided this embarassment and wrath from the public by just giving them details that they should attend this prestigious award ceremony....but BCCI is taking for granted and the same thing was showed by the players........

It is not clear under what circumstances, both Dhoni and Bhajji could not attend the Award-function. They may also have faced some genuine reason for that. We are hearing from media only. BCCI has already given a clarification on the issue and served notices to both the players. It is correct that most of the cricketers are playing only to get money, as huge money is being paid under the contract and I feel, it is a mistake of the BCCI-management. Players' going to any and every advertisement, for gaining money, must be controlled by BCCI, if this was the reason for missing the award ceremony. BCCI should also bring some strict discipline on players' schedule of movement in the country as well as outside the country, as anything bad done by the players can earn bad name/ shame for the country.
