According to me there are two people in this world .

Asset and Liability .

People who are helpful to others and help in improving life is an Asset and people who do nothing other than spreading sorrow to others are a liability.

As a person grows in this life , he will become a stake holder in many other people's lives.

When you play your role as a stake holder in being an asset or liability, your relation provides a meaning to fellow human beings life.

The person who understands this more quickly finds peace more quickly.

If not, each of us will run behind material earnings to gain short terms happiness but which blinds us of what can give us long term happiness.

So if someone asks me , whether I have found peace ?

I can say I have to an extent ,

Am I successful ? Nope , am far away from it..... but I can honestly say that am happy living my life.

My life will have a meaning as long as I keep my stake holders happy.

In 1950, Samuel Beckett had written a play “Waiting for Godot”, where he says that man has inherited this godless universe and here the mere act of survival with dignity itself is a heroic act.

To counter support Camus in his Philosophy drew a Picture- “Myth of Sisyphus” where a heroic human figure rolls a rock up on a steep hill knowing well that it will fall back again. So the interpretation is Life is meaningless in general but to make it meaningful what does one do? U can either be Sisyphus, who passes time as to serve his sentence in the prison house of life or else U could take up an act which would solve a purpose and pass time well at the same time.

Well few would say the absurdity of this debate. Its absurd but sometimes human being does not need to make sense of all things, few questions should remain unanswered.

While there is much talk about great insights and amazing enlightenments and even paranormal events, what Buddhism is really all about is returning to this life, your very own little life, with a "new attitude." By being more calm, more aware, a nicer person morally, someone who has given up envy and greed and hatred and such, who understands that nothing is forever, that grief is the price we willingly pay for love.... this life becomes at very least bearable. We stop torturing ourselves and allow ourselves to enjoy what there is to enjoy. And there is a good deal to enjoy!

Life is meaningful for everybody. You can also make someone's life meaningful by your work or action. & those who feels that life is meaningless then a basic question for them,'Why they are taking part in this debate'? They can protest it without expressing their view. I am sure that opposite side contributors will definitely find one reason to see something happened meaningful in their life. Please forgive me for my views , if it is going to hurt anybody, as I am free to express my view & it doesn't matter whether it is acceptable or not?

It depends how you look at the life. I am pasting my own creation about life. "Night and day goes on into history with great discipline As they count on going, Im becoming older I don’t find my role as yet, in this cycle. Knowing the destiny of life is achievement Destiny lies in living life for others, Not in living a parasite life Not in accumulating racks of money Some come to know the destiny very early Some know it a bit late in life Some one like me takes a life time. Swamy Vivekananda, Srinivasa Ramanujan, Alexander the Great and the like lived a short life on the earth Yet they are great achievers Mahatma Gandhi, Aristotle, Sir Issac Newton and the like came to know their destiny little bit late Yet they are great achievers. I don’t know why I came onto this world I don’t know what’s my destiny is I don’t know how the future will be for me I don’t know when I depart from this world Millions like me never find answers to those questions They take a life time to know their life’s destiny They come and vanish like all other creatures do Achievers remain for ever despite they physically disappear

Anything you do can be meaningful or meaningless depending on your willingness to perform and the outcome you get. We cannot say if life is meaningful or meaningless as it is a relative term.It is worth a lot for those who have achieved something in their life or who are content with the way their life is.For them life is indeed "Meaningful"

Thanks,Sankaran for referral.I beg to differ.The life is meaningful in the sense that it has a mission to Eco balance so that planet remains safe and livable.As you mentioned ,we human formalized the education system,otherwise remaining three,helping,caring and making other happy need no formal support as they are innate  in all living species.Thus life is meaningful and will remain so.

Life is meaningful. If we talk a bit of philosophy....then after taking so many forms we all have achieved this human shape. And the greatest thing that man has ever achieved is the gift of free will & rational thinking. So I strongly believe that life is meaningful by the way we tend to make it.
