People largely change the jobs when they feel that they have nothing much more to contribute or learn in their current situation. The human brain is a constantly yearning machine. If the job does not offer any scope for  learning and advancement, there is a tendency to feel stagnated there and vegetate. These are the signals for a change in job. Salary and Boss can be contributing factors - all of us work for a salary, and need a "good boss". But these are not sufficient conditions.

This brings me to talk of one of my GMs. He had once stated in a meeting .. "Some people have 10 years of experience. Others have 1 year experience repeated 10 times". As you go and grow up the ladder, if you find that your experience is being "repeated", then it is time to change. Bulk of the comments to this are "correct" in the sense that this applies at a slightly higher level and not at a junior level

SORRY. Darshana, I do not agree.  As a HR Manager, please remember the top of the Maslov(?)  pyramid - Self actualisation and learning. An employee cannot be "truly happy" as long as he does not both learn and contribute.

As per my views on the following topic i feel Mr srinivas is quite relevant because its not only about freshers because freshers have a tendancy to switch jobs due to higher salary and more payperks, but when we talk about the expierenced candidate then things like money really get saturated.Like the case of Mr nandan nilkani if i suggest ,he ws the chairman of the country biggest and the largest IT company infosys but despite of tht he went on to hold a new project that might gve him fame but is more about learning and exploring new thngs...so there are different expect when we talk about fresher and a expierenced person.

I don't think this might be case with most of the employees in changing their jobs. The formost reason causing people to change their job is 'inappropriate salary'. Learning and experience can't be a factor to make people change their jobs. Sometimes people get bored for being working in the same place since long so it gives them refreshment to change working place and this requires to change their job.

80% of the people change their job for salary only. changing the job of course creates new learning but not accepted with less salary. 20% people, unless and until a new break comes they change for new learning and experience to gather.

When a person switches over to a different company there is no guarantee that he will get an opportunity to learn more or learn afresh. People leave jobs mainly due to lack of proper recognition of their services to the Company, unfair treatment with respect to peers, disproportunate reneumerations within their working groups, improper work distribution, extra-long working hours compared to others in the same organization and ill-will of the superiors.

Sorry for having to disagree. Most people do not have an option of kind of job, salary, and boss. So bulk of employees cannot afford to change jobs. A few highly talented and skilled professionals can pursue and secure what they want / value. Systems and processes have to be optimized for the bulk / majority.
