The sacrosanct ideals of the elder generation - honestly, sincerity, commitment, loyalty, integrity, deference to seniority, etc are not very appealing to the Gen-Y who generally view these as parsimonious views of a geriartric generation. Whereas, Gen-Y's frantic multi-tasking, constant connectivity, disregard for conventional wisdom as well as the hyper-energy in social activities are all viewed as insolence and waste of time & energy by those who feel they have been there and done that.
