I think, Good Leaders plays a vital role in producing good performers. Without the support, i don't think that a person can perform well. Without skills they cant become a performer either even if there is a good leader.. So both Good leaders and Performers makes an better organization.

Leaders do not make successful people . It is people themselves who have talent and strength to succeed. A bad manager never means unproductive staff.

Practical experience, knowledge, circumstances and the environment around you make you a good leader. And in turn they motivate and inspire people to perform.

Ya of course, good leaders play a great role in making good performers throughout. Considering Ms. Diya's point, i feel she is partly correct that those who are good performers have their own strengths and abilities. But, even then there has to be someone in your life who one time or the other has inspired you in any way. So, there that guy or anything acts as a leader for him/her and he/she tries to match him/her by using self-possessed qualities. Then, that guy leads him in his thoughts and inspires him/her to perform better.

While it is true that most of us have inborn instinct to perform, it requires support from your peers and superiors to perform. A good leader can draw out exceptional performances from his team with proper guidance and support. Whereas a bad leader can stifle even good performers.

Of course, leaders can teach us so many things in our personal as well as professional life. We are also every day learning from our good leaders, just our perception is difference. We can also say that many of our too step members are learning from our leader (Expertise) either direct or indirect. Today, highly politics in corporate , so it is possible that we are not believe about this. Why company is hire top authority people (ASM,RSM,ZSM,MD,MM,VP, junior /senior etc..because we are many things learn from our hierarchy as well as leaders are motivating us...

Strongly agree. Most of the performers are made by good leaders. There are many qualities to describe an Ideal leader apart by leading by example; in my case for example, constant stirring, encouragement and acknowledgement from my boss have helped in excelling @ work

Leaders should lead by example. Leaders should coach and coax the members to perform consistently. Yes. Performers, barring innate abilities of members, most of the time are made by good leaders.

I believe, excellent leaders who live by example make their team memebers as performers. Of course, the credit as well is for the individual who follows the leader, but Leader is more responsible for creating performers. Imagine you working under a worthless manager who thinks only about his growth & is ignorant about anything that pertains to u & always points out negative in you! Will you still be a performer in his team?

Thats a good thought Deepak, but if you are a performer and you are under a bad leader who thinks nothing but "his growth" and keeps shouting at you all the time, will you be willing to give your 100% to your job? If you don;t do best, then you are not a performer.

But imagine you reporting to a leader who values your job, appreciates your work everytime you go out of your way, won't you feel like performing every single time?

Diya if I understood what you have stated the leaders pick and choose the would be leaders. Now this shows such people have made their way up by sheer work.

Similarly if a manager is bad the situation is critical since, as human nature all most all the employees will take up on the vices of the manager and will affect the productivity of the company.

You are right as performer strive to aciieve goal individually. But you have let participant get distracted by by being silent on context.Individual is likely to make effort for his fame & recognization.Learder play role for group's target. The management have extended their agenda to train their members in their performance with resources & techniques. Those are formalized & found to be successful

There's a big gap between Performers and Leaders. First of all.. Leader itself is a positive affirmation. So saying Good Leader makes little sense to me. Secondly Performers are made by Situation. Most of them are those ppl who work in the system and not on the system like Leaders do. So My vote is neither side. But just sharing my thoughts. Performers are those who doesn't need a leader.. they understand the situation themselves. Leaders dun do that.. They are big picture thinkers! They themselves rely on performers.. I believe..!
