True, may be their position in the government could add value to the sports NGOs in getting things done faster. However, too long continuity at the helms of sports NGOs of too old persons, politicians or not,  proved to have negative impact in the sports field for the past in India. We need to only look at the county's performance itselft during this period which vindicate this view with  glaring proof.

Being one of the biggest countries with a billion and odd population, our achievements in the world sports platforms are pathetic. It is high time we try progressive ideas with young blood with entrepreneurship taking over these NGOs.

Dear Mr Kusari,

While debating in social networks we only discuss generalising the facts. There are exceptions in every sphere.

About, Politician holding Government office working at the helm of NGOs, it is only right that  the same rule as applicable to a person working in a private company who in the normal course is not allowed to work in another company, shall apply.

Look ... recently we have seen Modi as Commissioner of IPL.

---he is not a political man meaning not a whole-timmer of a Political Party

---when resignation was sought and till to-day, he is not bending - trying to project himself innocent and saying that 'He has become a mass-Enemy' for no reason.

---He could be so reckless, dareing and fear-less as he is not answerable to anybody like voters & his own leaders in a Political Party ( in a court room answerable to the Judge thru his Advocate )

---Mr Sashi Tharoor resigned silently at the behest of his   Leaders of his party - may go back to his constituency to woo back support - there is check and balalces for men/women like him/her.

...........................

Thus we, the Professionals, Technocrats, Bourocrats, Self-employed etc may not blame the Politicians blindly and in every occassion either needed or not. That may mean - we are diverting attention else where and not judging things on reason and merit. As if : all of us  are :

--    Innocent /  have no ego

--   Most efficient / may perform any job even out of our field

--   Not corrupt  / may keep our kith and kin away from Profits

--   Do not let grow Vested Interests around us

--   Ready to resign a post as soon as deem fit looking into larger interests

But that is not always true.

Hi Mr Jose, can give any example that a politician made any sports body in to a world class association except BCCI?

Dear Kusari / Jose,

I meant only about the politicians holding ministerial positions in various governments should resign their positions in the NGOs to avoid interparty politics killing the NGO.

Again, it is not that old people with good experience should not be in the helm of affairs in various NGOs. What I stressed is that there should be a tenure for this positions, so that fresh ideas could evolve.

As attitudes and outlooks underrgo change with time, there should be a blend of young and old in various NGOs including the Sports bodies.

P.S. I have modfied the arguments accordingly.

Before we debate, we make things clear :

-- People holding office in Sports body for long

-- Political people are in Sports Body .. long or short

I would like to remove the first catagory of people from Sports Body to vaccate for some body new - be old or young - be politcal or non.

I support you Abraham, very old people should be removed from politics and young generation should be allowed to take control of the country. There are many people who are not able to walk or do any activity but they are still in position. So some measures should be taken like having some age limit for being a politician, education qualities and knowledge etc......

I don't say they are not good but they take long time to decide and get works done.....
