From the past one year, we have made lot of changes in our security systems. Our country has a lot of experience of terror attacks thus, we today know the different tactics terrorists use to attack us and we have prepared ourselves accordingly. Indeed, today's India knows how to deal with terror attacks.

Agree Ayan, Let's ask a simple question: Who had to learn and who admits the mistake? If we had learnt anything several indicators would have already started to reflect. For one those responsible for missed coastal patrolling, faulty bulletproof vests, non functioning rusted rifles and similar omission and commissions would have got highlighted and put to national scrutiny. Their backers would haver as well got exposed etc.... We are yet to actually realize that National pride is much more important than petty self interests of individuals howsoever powerful. Why no one ever suggests to make NCC and a few years in para/military service Or services in NSS mandatory for at least all aspiring civil services and politics.

We never were and never would be. That's the flip side of being India. Alas! we never learn. Or maybe on a brighter side - we are pretty good at forgetting.

Deepak, I think you are bit blind about the system which we have. The sea is vast and we havent done more precautions to prevent sea attacks. Remember, last time terrorists came through sea...

Of course we have made lots of effort to prevent terrorism. But do you think that sea is safe?? Terrorists came from Karachi by sea way. Do you think that they cant come again by sea. In fact India couldnt keep tabs on the attck throgh seaway. Our naval department is not so well equipped to do that. They have big vessels and we must appoint more watch keepers in regular basis. So in recent condetion attack can happen again. Do something with Navy.....

Even after 1 year our systems are busy blaming each other or covering up the lapses. There is no accountability and ownership for the tasks at hand. No heads have rolled for the 26/11 lapse and we only sacrificed our brave jawans and police officers with dummy bullet proof jackets and mock pistols (meant for bollywood shooting!!). Till we change to own up responsibilities nothing will ever change in this country. or we need to PIN and PUNISH the guilty, lazy and lethargic babus.

I agree somewhat with Mr.Ayan that we do not learn from mistakes. Its always easier to put blame and single out a person or community. Media, of-course unknowingly, became their informer and helped them kill some more people. I'm afraid tomorrow if war occurs again and media shows a LIVE telecast then... Procrastination, lack of will or may be delay it for undercut, but for sure we lack time bound action on our preparation. Thanks we have stronger defense otherwise... Now let us look at ourselves; People of India come together when outsiders attack, otherwise some are hindus, some are muslims and the list is endless... In fact we should be thankful to these attackers or terrorists as they make us realize that we are INDIAN first. Let us develop INDIANISM first and then blame anyone else... probably then you don't need to do so as no outsider would dare to attack. Let us vote next time for person rather than cast, party etc.

Since 26/11 attack, we have been boasting about an improved security system in our country but the truth is the defence system is still weak. The lack of resources and the underpaid police force has contributed to security loopholes. Still, we are readin in the newspapers about the lack of funds for the police force to run the security patrol boats at nights. if this sorry state of affair continues, we can't hope for a complete restraint on terrorists and a robust security system in the country.

We still need to learn things form the past. There are lots of security laxes at important places which are yet to fixed up.

Vote bank politics and high level corruption imbibed in our political system prevents stringent action to be taken on terrorists. Thus one way this will add fuel to further deterioration of our political system.

I agree Ayan, we all repeat mistakes. Also our demography, hundreds of kms of border with alienated & troubled neighbors, dearth of security & police personals especially in very densely populated cities like Mumbai, shortage of modern requisite equipments, all these make things easier for those with ominous intentions.
