Im a software engg .. im interested to join in the banking sectors ... when ever do apply for the Openings in Pvt banks being a fresher i get only few chances of applying in many posts i can apply only one being an engg that too a fresher and that too will not be shortlisted .. Is that they prefer only FINANCIAL background ppl ?? in PUBLIC SECTOR BANKING though a fresher from any field can apply and do the job ... WHY NOT HERE ON PVT BANK ?????? WHY DONT THEY NEED PROFESSIONALS?????

because basically they are technical people... first of all there are not too much software engineers interested in coming to finance field, and those who do come can not cope up with the financials every day...

I think, probably field can be one reasons why banks do not prefer software engineers, AS the general perception seen is, that commerce people are well suited for banking, rather than software professional. I should say, that only quite a few people I've seen working in a bank being a software engineer, that to with out any other qualifications related to finance like PGDM or MBA.

I agree with Ekta. Both the options are not valid. Openings for software engineers in Banks are few and limited. May be that's the reason. Further, it is not qualifications alone that matters, you have to pass certain rigid written tests to qualify.

Hi Lavanya,

Both the options that you gave are invalid. They are not over qualifies nor is it that they are not fit for the job.

Many of my friends happen to be engineers and are doing good in Banking sector. As far as you not getting selected is concerned , there has to be some other reason.
