A good product will build a brand. Eventhough brand building takes time, if the Product has it all n if the Masses r made aware of it, the Good Product wud beat the branded product!

I feel that Brand plays major role when you want people to come forward and give a try to your products. If we talk about FMCG products, if HUL or P&G comes out with some new product, we'll be doubtful but the trust factor for the brand will induce us to at least give it a try but if on the other side there is a new player, we will not even think of trying. So in my opinion, Brand is more important, the better is our branding, better will be the results for present and future. After that it is upto the product to live upto the expectation from the Brand.

Product's quality creates identity for the brand. consumer always identify the brand based on product attributes. for Eg: if you want to buy a soap you usually go for Lux a product from HUL. there the product Lux comes first. Lux made a significant remark in the minds of the consumers....

Brand gives the identity. But if the product is of low standard then it will back fire. So the product has to be of very good quality.

strongly oppose. Brand is created by years of investment which is merely a fn of functional benefit which the consumers enjoy. Branding is a fn of investment in products and is a fall out of emotional and rational equity. Hence you need not necessarily have a strong branding aspect involved but also delivery on the promises made by the brand which is product performance. By performance i mean not only in terms of delivering the desired result but also service (if at all)

Indeed Trust plays a very big role but it comes from the product, when people use it.. Brand can only support the product with its name/image but the final image/trust is created only by product itself and that what it all matters.

According to my view, Noone can say Brand is important because Brand derives from the maintaining the quality of the product for prolonged time.So this leads to the product permanently fixed in peoples mind ,so the the Brand comes next.For example if the Branded product is manufactured by X company in a economic rate, so people will follow that X brand product only.So here product stands last long standing in Society not a Brand. Note:I VOTED FOR PRODUCT ONLY BUT MISTAKENLY I PRESSED BRAND.PLEASE GIVE EXCUSES.

Brand and product both are associated with each other in comoplementary way.It is product which comes first.It is quality,good characteristics,price,promotion and sucess story makes any product a good brand name.So it any products fulfills all these categories becomes best brand.Good brands like..vics vabourab,surf excel were products when ther were launched but dut to their sucess stories they turned into brands.It is like Saas bhi kabhi bahu thi...

It's the quality of the product which makes aware of the brand. So at first product is more important. Once the consumer are satisfied with the product then they recognise the brand and become loyal to that brand. After getting the good brand image in their mind, they become less concious about the product then. Once this halo effect  infect their mind they just go for that brand only.

A brand is born out of a quality product that sells like hot cakes. Definitely, product is important but a product is not a product if it does not have a brand that it builds over a period of time and graduates from 'producthood' to ' brandhood'.

Very apt example, It does take a strong brand to entice your consumer to establish the first contact. An unknown product/brand would find it tough to reach the consumer without a strong name association.

Even a good product cant work wonders for itself, until and unless supported by a strong brand. It helps to reach out the target customer faster and more efficiently. At least the brand value helps establish the first contact with the consumer, later it depends on the strength of the product to ensure re usage.
