I think the pioneers of free trade and biggest economies of the world are moving to protectionism. The recent happenings prove this.

1. U.S. decision regarding H1B visa, denying tax benefits to companies outsourcing work prove that the biggest promoter of free trade is moving towards protectionism.

2. In UAE thousands of Indians have been sacked to safeguard local jobs. UAE is renowned for its free trade zone and an icon of free trade.

3. Our own Indian economy has raised Customs Duty on most imports.

It also runs counter to the current efforts to stem the sharp decline in the economic growth worldwide, especially in the US and other developed markets.....

Countries should oppose protectionism, any form of protectionism because that would be according to my assessments suicidal. Any kind of protectionism at this time should be avoided.......

I agree. India should be self-reliant in this filed it has capability to do so. Imports are means of getting kick-backs for politicians should be restricted. They also drain a lot of foreign excahnge which is not good for the economy.

Yes I agree with Sheetal. I will like to add to her point that many students get degrees but they have no knowledge. In some cases people persue courses which do not have anything to do with their area of work. Its just for show-off.
