Quality Stamp For drugs : Will it work?

The Ministry of Health have now decided to introduce a quality mark for generic drugs to enable consumers distinguish between quality and sub-standard medicines. Till date many cases in health sector was involved with consumption of wrong drugs by patients either given by medical staffs or brought by the patients themselves. What do you think,  will the idea of quality stamp on drugs work?

i am not fully in support of this but still i feel something like thia should cum up.i don't know much about QC but as a lay man i always want to know weather d drug i bought is original or not.quality stamps will help people know that.as far as corruption is concerned,as sir said,is the other side of the coin.we can't eliminate corruption but atleast take some steps to prevent it from going to a much high level.drawbacks should not stop us from thinking forward.

I don't believe in this kind of steps. This would in some way increase the bribing and corruption in health sector as most of the pharma companies would try to influence the concerned authorities to get a valid quality certification.

quality stamp work, no matter whether there should be increased in the corruption but if we think about the quality of life & do tremendous work in improving quality in all fields then why not in the field of drugs. where we talk about medical tourism there we should definately think about the quality of drug ,which improve the quality of treatment and ultimately improve the quality of life which all person seeking in this technological world .

It will b useful to stamp formulations as it will b one more effort to curb spurious medicines.Pharmaceutical industry has to be govt. regulated so as to check illegal,sub-standard and spurious formulations.This industry affects all of us rich as well as poor ,so mere branding like FMCG wont help.Even today rich peolple get quality medicines only.Its only poor who in search of cheap medicines end up compromising on the quality.Industry status given to this industry is right keeping in view the money companies spend on research and development.But ombudsman will always be required to keep it as ethical as possible.

Yes, there should be a quality mark on generic drugs.  This is a very good move by the Ministry of Health.  In this age when many spurious drugs are being manufactured and sold, there should be some stringent laws to control this.  Also a common man should also be made aware about the quality and effectiveness of such spurious drugs.  After all it is their lives which are put to the cost of. So I think Quality Stamp should be there on all such important life saving drugs by which a layman can easily understand the quality of that drug.

As I have already mentioned, in spite of its being a good decision,the government must first address the need for more inspections of manufacturing units and see that the production units comply with the good manufacturing norms.Or else it will show problems in the future...

If such a decision by our govt is going to be implemented without any failure it would defetinely work for the good health of people.But before implementing such a decision,the government must first address the need for more inspections of manufacturing units and see that the production units comply with the good manufacturing norms.
