If the existing brand is not able to differentiate itself from other brands in the same segment, rebranding would certainly improve performance...finally the customer has to think of your brand first to get more sales...

I think it will and it has done so in the past also. Consider the case to TATA tea with so many brands avilable of TATA if we count the total share of all the brands available and then add them we would find that their share has increased.

I think it has happen in only one or two cases and the rest does not have such great impact. When Hair&Care decided to reposition itself their was infact negative impact on it.
