What matters the most is the understanding of Management in its true perspectives. This will happen only when we are posited with a number of issues and problems to solve, and a number of case studies to be generated from all verticals. If we adhere to that, no matter whether your MBA is from regular college or from distance education.

undoubtedly regular MBA is always far-far better as compared to distance one..If you are planning to do MBA correspondence, then it's hard to find any option better than Symbiosis. Since, you are a working professional, therefore, if you can enroll yourself in some good MBA Part time program, then it's even better. Apart from the above options, now a days a number of Post Graduate Certificate courses (correspondence) of around 1 year duration are being offered by very reputed institutes such as IIMs, XLRI, IIFT in specific domains. You can even opt for them if you want to do a short term course in your area of specialization. These are being offered through satellite communication in association with a local partners in many cities of India. As far as the openings in this sector are concerned, you most probably won't be considered for jobs based on your MBA degree if you do it through correspondence. However, if you intend to remain in the same organisation then doing MBA might prove to be a good option when you move the ladder up in your firm. The filed in which you want to do your MBA depends on your interests. Operations Management is a very good field for folks like you who have a degree in Mechanical Engineering and are inclined towards Manufacturing & Services Sector.

Regular MBA gives day-day interactions with the professors and co-students. This is one of the more important things in an MBA programme.

education is not from books alone. bulk of education comes from interacting with people in the process of day-day life. Doubts raised in "life" or from book-concepts can be better clarified by interaction with the professors and fellow students rather than from further reading. regular class-room mba is therefore more complete.

Compared to Distance MBA, regular MBA imparts professionalism and gives more exposure. Because, nowadays MBA through distance is done merely for the sake of adding up a degree. Not many universities provide curriculum or guidance which is equivalent to a regular one. I am doing my MBA through distance education where, though the curriculum is better compared to other universities, we don't have eminent professors to guide us professionally. I feel there is no professionalism in the class at all.

I support your views, but I always insist on 3/4 yrs. exp. with a distance MBA rather than a fresh MBA with no experience.

Distance MBA has its own merits. Knowledge do not see that it is coming from a A. C Room or High profile college. if we leave some popoular colleges of India every colleges are same. Regular colleges take so much fees for the classes that every body can't afford. Now a days we can see that most of the colleges attracting candidates by providing them laptops and free visit to USA. By doing this we can't get the knowledge of MBA. Now a days MBA Colleges are on every third road. so we can see and take a clue that what type of education they are providing. Regular College dosen't provide you the assurance of the success. IGNOU, SYMBOSIS, ICFAI are some examples for providing distance MBA. In my opinion students who are studying from distance education are more self dependent, more practical, more experienced and more knowlegeble. They know very well that they have to manage their way themself weather it is arrange for an interview or internship. Most of the colleges sell their name weather their students are capable of doing the job for higher post or not. In distance MBA we can earn while we learn. In our daily office life we can use or see many of the theories of book in practical life. So my full support is for Distance MBA

EVERY SYSTEM HAS GOT ITS MERIT & DEMERIT. MICHEL FARDAY THE NOTED SCIENTIST WAS A BOOK BINDER AND THROUGH THAT LYBRINTH OPPORTINUITY HE PROVED TO BETTER THAN MANY GENIUS. I WAS TAKING CLASSES FOR IGNOU STUDENTS AT BANGALORE. I HAD STUDENTS FROM ALL WALK OF LIFE,BOTH WORKING & NON WORKING. FOR A SINGLE PROBLEM I HAD HUNDRED OF DIFFRENT VIEWS WHICH IS HARD TO FIND IN REGULAR MBA STUDENTS BECAUSE THEY ARE TAUHGT FOR ALMOST EVERY THING.WHEREAS PROFESSIONALS DOING MBA THROUGH CORRESPONDENCE ARE READY MADE ONLY NEED TO BE FINE TUNED .

Regular MBA is good but that does not mean that distance education is bad. There are certain universities conducting contact classes and guidance is being given utilizing the services of eminent professors. I did my MBA in distance mode and I am satisfied with the knowledge I gained when compared to a regular MBA student. It depends on the personality and how serious ur in the studies. Regular MBA has some edge over distance mode in the eyes of employers. I dont know the rationality behind.

DISTANCE MBA IS ALSO good enough comparing to Regular. I wont give full support for this Distance but still in some case people who are working only get into this kind of Distance Education. They will have better Idea about MBA and with good corporate exposure. Dont know what makes corporate to prefer only regular students. Yes Some extant they are different but still they fail to think about people who will not have a chance to do MBA in regular.
