As religion is a vast topic and never ending subject, its good to share and know the similarities between different religions and practice on them, because every religion will talk about betterment and happiness of humanity. When we know the good things about a religion we respect that religion and respect the people who follow it. I believe sharing good knowledge is a thousand times better than anything doing good.

"Constantly choosing the lesser of two evils is still choosing evil." no religion is better or worse than humanity itself when it fails to rationalize we seek the help of a divine intervention think about it religion helps builds ideology but not tell us to fear from it and stay away from it we should embrace it and feel what it say's to us when we pray in a temple or rather anywhere else just listen it sometimes question it also because change is necessary .

I truly support what Mr. Rahman has emphasised here. We need to know first what it stands for rather than pass comments. We are ignorant and what has any religion done wrong to face so much of wrath here? All religions preach for the betterment and unless we go through it we wont be doomed but yes missing on a lot of good learnings. One simple question for all. Half the comments here are diabolical. Why do we marry in accordance to some particular defined sets of RELIGIOUS rituals when we half believe in it? Is it not related to the respective religions we follow? We never know what is being done while we get married but if you go to the depths, it is all scientific.

I had refrained to talk on this topic for obvious reasons! But I support what Alka has stated here completely. There are too many misgivings while discussing religion. We have people who are EMOTIONAL about what their fathers have taught them, we have people who are fanatics and would DIE for their religion and then we have people who USE religion to forward their selfish interests for a term to helm the state or the country. Worst, we have people who SUPPORT all these factions! I seriously feel that we do not know religion and we have not assessed how to make religion a weapon to spread GOODWILL at all! I am not helping the cause, I am too busy in my LIFE and CAREER!

I cant understand being literate human being why we are so scared to discuss about our religion.Religion is right of every human being.t a happy and intelligent blending of philosophy and ritualism. an unintelligent and abrupt denial of sensual pleasure and blind following of spiritual values results in suppression,in an individual and this suppression for a period of time leads into bitterness, frustration and cyanicism in life. The religious masters arrived at a solution of the problem by prescribing an intelligent formula by which man could sublimate to a higher spiritual living.religion is our ultimate peace of life. If some people misutilise the words religion and make lots of destruction and harm to society ,then why we should forget our religion. Each and every reliogion has one and only ultimate aim ,to worship GOD9may be it has got many forms),Then why and how religion can be dangerous.

Religion is not the personal property of an individual or an institution.Properly understoodit is not a set of declaration made by some strange men with rare powers of vision or some bundles of mysterious ritualsor some secret den of omnious conspiracies. On the contraryit is complete science of perfect livingwhereby society can learn to live peacefully and fully.

It is not that people are ignorant about religion. It is that. now-a-days it is oppurtunistic. I want a promotion, I look for God. I want a cure for self/relative..I go look for God. Everything rosy, Then I am busy celebrating. I give alms.. b'coz I dont want Gods ire!! I serve poor to get in to God's good books. Even Mother Teresa told once,"I serve these lepers for the want of Almighty's unending love" . No one did anything becoz the act demanded it. They did it to get back something. Over the last 5 years this world has changed a lot. I get a Live Balaji Darshan on my TV...Oh even on my Mobile! So why bother moksha thru difficult means! Common yaar! What religion, viligion. who has time!!

Two of the many touchy subjects are religion and politics. But on the subject of religion, many people don’t know that much about it and it should be discussed in certain situations so that others can develop their own point of view, but with respect to others views. Sometimes you have people die over religion and for many that can seem like the extreme. But it’s when we have respect for each other’s views then people can discuss religion in a civilized manner. It doesn’t mean that you have to accept it but it can be discussed.

Religion is the only thing which is bestowed upon us with out even our knowledege, this happens because our parents follow that religion so am I, but naturally one should acquire in depth knowledge of the religion or faith that they follow. This will help them introspect and broaden their perspective which in turn will give the acceptance towards others point of view.

Yes, we do not know about our religion in detail nor do we understand the other religions that we do not follow. But my question to all is, can we leave this here?? Someday we will have to know and respect all religions in order to have peace and harmony in our country. Unless we understand each other's religion we will never be able to respect other religions and hence this debate about whether we know religion or not will continue for ever!!! No religion is bad, no religion teaches wrong things!!!

Do not discuss religion, Share & learn religion..........Bcoz every religion endorse the same huminity & love. And if u go in deep no religion is made against huminity the differences & issues are due to our wrong understanding. So b4 u discuss or share religion must develop respect for all religions.

WHY TO AVOID DISCUSSING ABOUT OUR RELIGION,UNLESS AND UNTIL U DON'T DISCUS U CANT KNOW ABOUT IT,NOW A DAYS IT HAS BECOME A FASHION TO SAY THAT WE ARE SECULAR,AND FOR VOTES THEY WILL GO TO EVERY RELIGIOUS PLACE (OF ALL RELIGION) BUT BEHIND THE PUBLIC THEY WILL FOLLOW THEIR OWN,IS IT NOT BE FOOLING THE PUBLIC, IN MY OPINION WE HAVE ALL THE RITES TO DISCUSS OUR RELIGION PUBLIC ALLY SO THAT WE MAY LEARN MORE AND MORE ABOUT IT BECAUSE 'ADHJAL GAGRI CHHALKAT JAYE'

Religion is something that one is born into and the rituals wily-nily shape and/or influence the persona of an individual. Owing to the same, most people find it difficult to disassociate their persona from their religion. so when they get into a discussion it becomes more about their very own existence rather than the discussion on the core philosophy that guides their spiritual and moral conduct. the word 'religion' has been over abused.I think people would not find it difficult to discuss spirituality and morality instead

I agree that Religion is a necessity. It gives you an identity and acts as a guiding force in our life. But there has to be a line drawn somewhere. All the problems start when one starts to bother about the other persons religion. Problem starts when one forgets the basics of peaceful coexistence. We cannot avoid religion. Look at our VEDAS; It is the epitome of knowledge. It has all those essentials required for a good living. It has science, It has mathematics, Medicine and what not. Nothing has ever been invented and nothing will ever be invented outside VEDAS. All we need is the appreciation about the other person's right to live as comfortably as I would like to live.

It is easier to hurt somebody when discussing religion, because when you are contradicting somebodies faith which was created in 10--15 years time..... it could literally heat up the argument just because nobody would be ready to give up their faith.............. and then when the justifications come along is a cause of further inconvenience!

Religion is a very touchy topic. One does not have enough knowledge of one's own religiona nd based on the limited knowledge we are ever ready to pass judgement on other religions. Obvously teh oher person also is very touchy about his/her relgion. This creates a lot of discord and leads to misunderstanding whic could affect relationships in the long run. It is OK to speak about religion if you are putting in a perspective of your own religion or belief. It is when we tend to start comparing other religions with our own when there is discomfort.

I do not think this is dangerous to discuss about religion, cause if you will not discuss about your religion, then what is your identity your name which reflect your religion just. Yes this is true all religion are quite similar but rituals are differ even after died your funeral procession is differ, few person worship the statue and few person not, in India we have face so many communal riots, therefore we are thinking this is dangerous to discuss on this topic, do you know why that happened because your are not aware of other religion and you (do not take personally) are having little information of other religion. I will support to discuss on this topic THIS IS NOT DANGEROUS.

Honestly, I think both the points mentioned by Yogendra are true. These days religion is not part of our curriculum and so our knowledge of even our own religion is very limited. We can not discuss anything of which our own knowledge is inadequate. Secondly, religion is out of fashion. Anyone who discusses religion may be considered backward so people feel discussing it may spoil their image. Thirdly, if you support or speak anything against any religion (all religions will have their good and bad points) you may be considered a bigot. So, it is safe not to discuss it.

I will tell the truth about it. Yes--It is disgusting to discuss Religion now a days. Religion certainly has many things to teach--But we do not read it and we come up with mixed and inferior knowledge in Religion--Sometimes we make fun of it to hide our ignorance. It is dengerous to discuss religion because specially India is no more 1 religion centric--and if we Say "RAM" then we are bound to SAY "RAHIM"---Otherwise? Otherwise we are simply communal!!!

I personally don't wantto talk about religion because I feel it is very personal. A person is entitled to choose his beliefs regardless of whether it confirms to the mainstream idea or not. An individuals choice of belief or religion or spirituality maybe very different from another person and as religion is now a matter of so much disagreement between societies, indivisulas and even countries, I would rather keep it to myself. I see no need to get into a controversial topic where every one thinks they are right or sometimes that they are the only ones who understand religion. How many time have you come across people insisting that only their God's are actually God's and their religious books are exclusive? For any rational person i feel that this debate is fruitless. What we need interms of religion is perspective and tolerance.

I think nowadays its been dangerous to discuss about religion because of our narrow minded approach by boosting your own religion and disgracing others religion by not knowing the truth behind it. No religion teaches hatred instead it tells to love each other and spread harmony through equality and love. Every religion has something in it that we can learn from. Actually all religions lead to one god religions are just a mode of communication to god. I think we should discuss our religion and know each others religion deeply, as sharing knowledge leads to prosperity in the society

Religion is something very personal matter. The choices depend upon your personal choice. Religion also is a very broad definition. in hinduism itself so many ways and schism like vaishnavism, shaivism etc are there also millions of Gods are there.. it becomes more and more intricate and yes personal too. Now there are no set pattrns or scales to measure and put them on certain parameters. Its better not to discuss unless the other fellow is interested in learning about you in deep.

Whether we are religious or not, know about religion or not it is not a topic we want to indulge too much into. There is always the talk of who religion is the right religion. So I see this as a dangerous topic to discuss even on this site. Further, this is my view on religious leaders from the vast amount of news/articles I have read to date. I think these individuals are very intelligent people who have done great studies and has reached the peak where they believe there is no god ....this is why they indulge in so many illegal practices. Did anyone on site ever heard about the Jonestown massacre in Guyana?(just google it when you have the time) I have one question '' Who discover religion" and why are they so many different religions? Please note I have nothing against religion ..every man to his own order.
