With the advancement of Information Technology, anything can happen in the future, including the philosophy of company management. With powerful, ERP coupled with SCM, and other Business Management applications effectively implemented, the CEOs job also could be managed by a brilliant computer in future. If it can work elsewhere, why not here also. Nevertheless, for steering a company successfully like a ship in the ocean, perhaps, the human touch in various ways is essential and hence CEOs jobs are going to stay.

Thnks Nitin for the refer. Business houses have started treating their CEO's as just another commodity and the trend has been thjere for some time now. After doing all in their career span, one tends to and nowadays prefers to become a commodity, as who would wish to be doing the hunt for a suitable opportunity and follow the rules of the game. To be in service till the time house wants and move ahead thereafter with all respect. One close look at the corporate world in the last 5-7 years, the trend exists and is catching up fast. Sure, a win-win situation for both. To lend the experience and expertise, taking the house to next level, and get paid handsomely - what more would a person at that age and with such valued experioence need.

I agree with you Mr. Nitin but with a reservation; in the long run it will definitely prosper as its a win win situation for both the employee & the employer. But, what I feel it can not thrive in volumes;as to deliver something within stipulated time, with some milestone being attached to it & to always repeat the same as a professional, requires real talents or real experts,,,,,and as our every industry is fighting about is 'talents'; my reservation finds some logic with it. Thanks for referring.

Renting a CEO concept sounds good but how far its fair to share company's commercial & confidential things with a person who is associated with company on a contract. Sometime later, he may associate with competitor as a Rented CEO. SO there is a risk of business confidentiality associated with it.

NO... I THINK THIS IS LIKE GIVING 'CONSULTANTS'... A NEW NAME ! ! Renting a Car... Renting a CEO, What Next ? What is wrong with Consultancy ? To me it is like "OLD WINE IN A NEW BOTTLE ". Till now Companies used to have Full Time / Part Time Consultants & now we are giving them a terminology of 'A Rented CEO'. Well... to each their own, I dont agree. It just dosent' go down well with me. Happy Debating Friends !

I agree with Nitin. Hiring a Ceo is akin to internal auditor for your business accounting, except that ceo will do the same for your business processes/infrastructure. The business processes and business infrastructure in todays, ever evolving business world..now needs speciality people like never before. Though new conceptually...will take on...Currently may seem ridiculous..but will catch up eventually like out sourcing.. Thanks Nitin for the referral.
