Universal SIM phones with Roaming in Fixed network.

Many may think it is a crazy idea, but look a little deeper. In the years to come the distinguishing factors between Wired and Wireless network will have to vanish except for the type of terminal device and the end link.
With increase in data speed, the Wireless cell areas will become smaller and smaller in turn making the wireless portion in the whole network also smaller, ie. the end cell to device and the remaining wil be on OFC. Most part of the Wireless network will have to be on OFC back bone which is similar to the present FTH networks.
In fact the wired network has more potential for high speed data products as much high quality, higher bandwidth could be realized. With these, there will be change in the end user terminal in fixed network also. So in due course, there will be a universal system of telephony practice where the back bone is OFC and end link is wireless, common type of connectivity with different type of user terminals which could be used as required.
There will be no distinction between wired and wireless networks; every phone line will have roaming facility, every phone will have SIM and there will be different types of user devices which could be logged from any where to access your service, at home, in the office, in the car, in trains and may be in aero planes also. The terminal in the house can be a fully loaded system that can handle mult-Mega bit multimedia products and networked with your Home Theatre and other gadgets. The phone in the office could be a desk top one with connectivity with your personal laptop andthrough it to the office network. And then the sleek mobile one while you are moving around, for you to just login and use. In the car with a hands free and connectable to your car TV and audio system and your personal Laptop. And then a sleek mobile while yu in the outdoor. Every device can have a SIM in it which gets activated when you switch on the device overriding the other devices. Which other method can provide number portability, better than this? Those interested may please see my posting "Roaming in Fixed Networks" in Telecom&IT community

I agree with Paul and Ted here, most of the Mobile phones are also becoming music players and Cameras with extreme clarity of sound and picture both, and increasing Megapixels all the time, one can use hie Mobile phone in  digicam manner, so yes mobile phones now and in future will play a spoil sport for Digital cameras...

in some senses it already has. each netbook and mobile phone made in the lst 2 years come with 2 megapixel and higher cams. these produce low cost cameras, and does replace the digital camera sector ( the low cost units) .

I would say yes mobile phones will replace digital cameras in times to come.Talking about resolution..if we can have mobile phones of 8 mp then why not higher than that and I am sure that soon mobile phones will be the only instrument that we will need to carry ourselves with because it will have all the features from higher resolution camera to internet to everything.

With the growing technology it shows that it is on the verge of replacing it. With the latest Innov8, where 8 stands for mega pixel which has great resolution.

The different modes, options on cameras are not possible at least now in mobiles phones. Going forth also since camera is an added feature on mobile, I only forsee adding new features but not replacing cameras.

I think NO.They will replace the cameras for small duration. Mobiles have to be changed according to the times and needs and also using them continuously will have impact on the life time of the device.Having a dedicated camera for it's own purpose is always a good idea

In what sense we are talking? When online books and media came, there was a fear that print media will go. Apparently that did not happen, who have interest in photography they will prefer the camera.

Digital cameras have a resolution of 16MP and these cell phones which are out there in the market are not able to stand such a technology there are amny problems which are faced by these kind of handsets. The major problem could seen with N23 of Nokia.
