i worked as corporate advisor in textile industry since 1984 and now a non executive director corporate affairs after my stint in dredging industry as a steering cttee chairman for international dredging activities,in europe for about 10 years or so  handing both contract labour numbering over about 8000-10,000 per project and like that at least 10 projects handled in europe and south east asia with multi cultural staff and labour.  we used to retrench and reemploy most of the casual labour in 1960s and 70s. i realizes one thing hrd has to be kind with blue colored employees and that will make them happy and train them to new environment every time after all every project is unique and has unique challenges! When we finally retired people we used retrin them in the areas they can replant themselves, right from entreprenuerships!
