We try hard to concentrate on our work and then sudden ly from the other corner of the office a cell phone rings. We loose all our concentration. It is too annoying, isn't it. There are rules in companies that cell phone should be in silent or on vibrating mode. But we can't force such things on anyone. They can't be fined for the ringing cell phones. It is for sure that it is not good etiquette to keep the phones on ringing but can we really do anything against it?? Solutions along with opinions are welcome.

We cannot do anything against anyone but each of us should understand this and should keep our rings on low volume or phone on vibration. We should understand that when we don't feel good when someone else's phone rings how would others be feeling about our phone!!

Yes, it irritates at work place but it may be managed within the organization by providing a company's own ringtone. Every employee may be requested to opt silent mode or use company's ringtone (can name it as company mode).

Yes it is really irritating. Not only this some of the mobile oprators specially Bharti Airtel start sending a bulk of unwanted SMSs without taking permission from the clients. Take the case of today and yesterday I have received more than 80 SMSs for which they did not take my permission and starte charging Rs 5/- per day or perhaps per SMS, most of them from 54321 regarding informations about the world cup status. I don't know the details because their customer care no. 121 found busy all the time. These things are not only irritation but also disturbing

One option is to block using cellphones and to take calls only through the board if you are part of an organised sector. That way your teams' focus on the job on hand, will be better and no undue disturbance to others. Looking at other way every new gadget is bound to have its own positive and negative effects. Look at positives and move forward

Organisation should conduct an education class where they can make him understand the atticates of the workplace. They can also educate about the minimal voice range which is easily audible by everyone. HR or Supervisor Should carefully examine the complaints and talk to them directly and ask for maintaing better cordinal relationship by understanding each other's problems.

Diya you will observe a group of people always keep their phone on vibration mode while in work place the others are not. I think it also or may be a parameter to judge some body's involvement and seriousness.

It is our moral responsibility to keep the cells in vibrating mode when we are in work place and discourage general gossips during office hour. Some of us cross the limits and invites problems from the colleagues and boss. I agree with you that no rule can be implemented but self control will help in this direction.

I support your views, Diya, but it's not in our hand to control anyone's ring tone.

Every mobile user should follow some etiquette, while using it , at work place.
