To all this i would like to add...UPA government wants that the "JANATA" should always be involved in their "roti kapda & makaan" related issues so that they shudnt have time to think about the functioning of the government. By doing this the government can successsfully do all kinds of scandals behind our back. Its shameful that a government with so many big leaders are not able to find a solution for the inflation. Inflation of all the items which a normal citizen would use in his/her daily life. If the government talks about technological advancement, infrastructural development etc issues is just because they want us to get distracted from the real issues like PRICE HIKE, poverty etc. this all have been done very successfully by congress alone and now under the sweet shadow of UPA. pls dont trust them.

63 Years of Indian history, no real politicians are ruled the country. Either they are best by-product of western economic principles or real bureaucrats with Indian origin and spend their whole life for western financial/economic principals. Still they are in the key position. When we travel through the villages of farmers, we can notice that there will no changes in their life, except some places we can see they owned some tractors/machinery, and using harmful chemicals by which they became the much poorer ( debtor to banks- before to national banks now to private banks) or illness. But the corporates are became much stronger than before, the bureaucrats inside the politician jackets are not shame to say they are slaves of this national and international corporates. Now they think to sell the national oil companies to any these cooperates, but they will get more commission in this sales if they remove the governments hold on oil prices. That is the first step to sell common men's property to their cooperate bosses. If we notice only this decision make uncontrollable situation in market, everybody is exploiting this situation and Govt. become like a doll. I am not saying it because of the specific party. Indian systems still required to com up and start to Next freedom fighting that lead will lead by farmers and common man, as they are the real foundation on any good good nation. And quit the bureaucrats inside politician Jackets from India.

In my opinion Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh is a good man but he lacks the boldness to take certain decision with courage since he has to get the nod from his leader. After getting lot of pressure from different direction the action is being taken on the ministers who involved in the scandals. On the contrary as a PM of our country, he is supposed to know what is going around him through his confidential network and he miserably failed. Regarding the rising prices, the reasons attributed are the scandals by the ministers, politicians, and bureaucrats, excessive importing of certain items, getting finance from the big business houses/traders by the politicians & bureaucrats for their selfishness and the business communities will automatically increase the prices of the commodities to adjust the amount made to these honorable people, incompetent policy planning by the govt, wasting public money on unproductive matters, and not implementing the govt policy planning and the projects in time that increases the project cost. Another main reason will be of the unaccounted black money also inflate the prices. Sometimes our ministers are also corrupted by the foreigners to implement their designs.
India needs a leader like Srimathi.Indra Gandhi,Sri. Atel Bihari Vajbai, Sri.Morarji Desai & others and these leaders are capable of leading the country and our ex-presidents of India also but they did not have the executive powers. Thanks Ms. Ravali

What an irony, 35% population of the country still struggling to meet both ends, while politicians and bureaucrats are busy plundering nation. Are PM, Manmohan Singh, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi only mute spectator? There is no dearth of talent in this country, then why filthy minds are occupying power? This is the government of rogues, crooks and scamsters. Scamsters are ruling the nation, crooks like Kalmadi, Chavans, Shinde and Raja are roaming freely enjoying free air, nothing concrete has taken place against these sinners who are plundering public coffers and gullible people are watching like mute spectator. We need uprising similar to Egypt to wipeout these sinners.

Aruni, How many corrupt or self-profit or power seeking members form a certain party or group does impact this. A more disciplined party of honest majority can surely achieve much better you may agree.

It is not about finding options/alternatives..but doing justice to your job..BJP as said only has a communal tag but he was successful enough to control the economy even during Kargil.. Congress from past 55 years was linked in any or other controversy from independence..cant we give chance to any other political party other than congress who has done no good for so many years..they are all great politicians and does know how to play with people's mind and thats the jack for them but if people is aware of their deed/misdeed.. conclusion to this is..UPA is not at all doing justice to their role/job at all..

Raising prices I mean infalation in economic language is good up to some extent especially when economy is in boom mood but when it croses it's limit it becomes dangerous for economy. As fas as WPI and CPI is concerned it is good to have sligter increse in prices of luxurious and oppluent comodities. But, for a common man food is every thing especially for those who are below poverty line ,daily wage earner for them life become very hard to sustain.Govt should have control over food prices which are directly associated with lives of common people .As fas as govt is concerned I will appreciate con gress for reducing fiscal deficit which has reduced up to 5 %,Disinvsetment policy in public navratnas and liberlizing economy. But at same time I have sypathey for those who are living hand to mouth due to price increse ...prices of food commodities are touching sky due to poor govt regulation (mkt is especially governed by forces of supply and demand). On that part i would rate govt 4 out of 10.

I cant say it is incapable, but it's the irresponsible behaviour. It seems that UPA and its allies are of the opinion that coming back to power is taken for granted for them since they are not feeling any threat from NDA and its allies. UPA allies successfully tagged BJP as a communal party. BJP is unable to come out of this tag. There is a big divide in majority population while the minorities are intact. Particularly Cong. run Govts. have no control on market. Most of them connived with market peddlers. Though there is any necessity of further rising the price of petroleum products they did it as also the milk and other essential commodities. In India people never come out against the incumbent Govt. They patiently await for the next elections. This is the major advantage for the Cong. UPA run Govt.

A government who ruled our country for more than 55years is always linked with corruption and whenever it forms the government, price rises and normal people cannot afford it.
they decreased the price of toys, mobile etc during budget but neglects the basic necessity.petrol prices goes to sky level, even if the world price/gallon is low.they dont bother to cut down the price untill media highlights it and it reaches ti intolerable limiit.they always come up one or other issues in the country to cover that up..
it is not the first time they are doing ths but ever since independence..they raised the government loans during the P.V narsimha rao era..that the dollar value touched Rs 50 during that time.

Government alone can not be blamed for "Price rises". There are so many factors influence it. In fact, we -the Consumers are responsible for it. See for yourself the prices of Onion a few days ago and now. It is only 4-5 rupees now that brought about 100 rupees a week before. No Produce or no season for the produce, weather prevailed, black marketing, Hartal by transport, ban on import & export. The government machinery run by us was ineffective.

Ravali I don't agree with you at all. Dr Manmohan Singh is a clean man and respected worldwide as one of the best brain in economics so is Montek Singh along with Mr Pranab Babu and Mr Chidambaram. Well to certain extent things went bad because of weather that is excess rain or less rain and heavy cold and ever increasing price of crude. I think the common man like me are under stress but see all the persons associated with scam are being dealt with strictness and have you ever heard a minister has gone to jail on charges of corruption? it is happening for last 60 years so it will take time to break the logjam.

I have to say the present inflation is imported partialy from rising prices abroad for commodities. Moreover NYT reports last week that there is going to be a deficit in supply in commodities world wide in the near future. Inflation is a big problem. We have the Excise indirect taxes acting as 'auto stabiliser' though whoever introduced this tax keep taxing from year on year end. This is a tax that need be introduced only when inflation is predicted. Like administrative pricing mechanism introduced for contingency is made to keep going every year even when the contigency situation disappeared. These are flaws in our regulatory reactions to change in state of the economy. The problem with India is that our country is not designed for citizen to make 'rational choices'. This means a citizen is supposed to have a clear pathway in executing his decisions that make his life from birth to death. Rational decisions he makes need to culminate in his life getting settled through his life time. This is missing, which probably is due to irrational decisions on design of nations economic and social processe, which culminates in citizen to make 'irrational choices' like resorting to corruption and illegitimate methods for existence. This makes our system more risky to live with high 'systemic risks' and 'fat tail' apperences in processes along with lags and leads. Rental incomes and asset prices varie from state to state. There is no homogenity.
