It is true that the law in respect of child girls victim is no tough as required in the changing todays era. but also the court pronounces his judgment after the trial. It doesn't mean that i am of the view that the punishment given to the accused is enough, especially looking towards the gravity of the case. our law maker must have to pay their attentions towards this lacuna of our judicial system.

NO WAY!! This is not the first time that the Police have policed the system just to protect their own kin. They have the armoury and the legal know how to doctor, conjure and even twist the evidence and witnesses. If the custodians of law and order can behave erratically and find ways to toy with the legal system, then NO PUNISHMENT METED OUT IS ENOUGH!! I feel that if the defendant is proven guilty to the extent of 'no doubt whatsoever', he should be immediately taken to the gallows and hung on that dreaded rope. Rathore doesnt deserve any more respect and deliberation than what has been done already!! ITS PATHETIC and SHAMEFUL! I cannot imagine if it was a 14 year old from my household... I would have taken the law in my hands and done the needful!!!

Not only has this gentleman committed a crime,he has used the state machinery to harass, intimidate, level false charges and drive a minor girl to suicide.I agree with Kavitha that once this is out in the open, the Government should not sit on it`s hands. It should actively pursue all legal recourse to restore the confidence of people and punish the guilty.

A Sr. Officer like this one getting away with such an act will only give his subordinates more reason to commit such heinous crimes fearlessly.if this goes on we will soon be seeing more cops joining the bandwagon of rapists and the likes. How can we ever think of the Indian police as those who will protect us when our lives are in jeopardy? We are SO damn unsafe in this nation.

Though I wouldn't go to the other side of the argument , many aspects of the investigation are not clear. What is the sequence of events that forced Ruchika to go for the extreme step after three years. What happened in these three years. Was she counselled properly? Was she supported by family adequately? In the three years after the molestation , when the case was slapped against the IGP , the corrupt policeman with the help of corrupt politicians managed to harass the family. hat did the family do about it? Did they petition the president? NCW? Finally , after the old man (DGP) had a full service and full life, what punishement are we going to give now?

It is true that culprits often get away in such cases in our country, especially the influential. We can get only a very few examples where people from the creamy layer of the society get punished (in case they have proven guilty). A strong voice is needed to speak against the law and who could be better than the public themselves. We need to raise our voice unitedly against such criminals who get away unpunished. We need to think a moment that would we have kept quite in case our own kith or kin would have undergone such a brutal crime.' Raise your voice.

Its really shame for us that we ourselves cultivate the habbit of procastination by every means. The pucnishment should be given the then time it self and it should be the worst that no one would ever dreamt of commiting such crime

Six months jail is not enough for a life lost. But, see, we need to look at Ruchika's case from another another angle. This is the perfect case to show what happens when an influential person commits a crime. It shows, whatever be the time Might Is Always Right. First of all Rathore is not framed for his crime in true sense of terms. The fact that Rathore was not charged of pushing (abetting in legal terms) a minor to commit suicide proves his influence in the whole system of delivery of justice. He and his backers made sure that he gets the minimum punishment if and when he gets any. The trial in the court of law and the ordeal that the family went through outside is well known now to be commented upon. But it throws a simple but most infuriating and disturbing question, that is, what to do if a girl/woman is molested? To keep quiet and live with it, or, speak out and go through a hell? It is high time our justice delivery mechanism made sensitive enough!

Punishment given to the culprit is not enough at all , he was smiling in the court after listening the judgement, no sings of remorse, its shame on our legal system which is not able to give justice to a girl child even after nineteen years. When are we going to improve our system? Its high time. Farzana Rizvi

Clearly not,but I also would like to say that Delay of justice where a simple case can go on 15-20 years.Delay of justice is in fact a denial of justice. The judicial system is just happy to follow its procedures whether it is serving its purpose or not.

Since it has been established by the court that DGP Rathore molested the girl. And that caused the girl to commit suicide. So Rathore is responsible for that. He is a murderer morally if not legally. On one of the TV programmes a legal expert opined that the maximum punishment in such a case (molestation) is 2 years' imprisonment. At the least, Rathore should have been put in jail for 2 years.

This is really a big shame for india. If any body who belongs to a judicial authority is already involve in this case then how it is possible to believe on justice. In my opinion even death sentence is also a minimum punishment for that person.

I support to your opinion. Public hanging is a good way. First of all it should be informed to public that such a hanging is going to be held here and here. Those who want can come and see. And that should be done in front of the woman who was raped or who had to face the harrassment . The public has to be shocked by the punishment so that no person shall even think of such an act in future. Before hanging he should be harrased to the maximum mentally and physically.

Small Punishment make courage to open do more crime, it is definitely right! Better set a example of threat to others. However we do need to more know about Law, in this case. Due to the man was Former Chief and how did he escape while asking the questions from the Justice and in the Court. Put in the nuts shell, do we really know about the Law! or Are we debating from the side of Citizens? From the side of Citizen of course this is not definitely not enough such kind of Punishment to him. On the other hands, how did he answered while in the Justice/Court? According to the evidence and so on make him survive in this time, taking into consider on the Present Law such kind of Crime. To be added or do something else. Just a opinion and that's too polities. I do not know much about in Law.

Only one punishment comes to my mind... " HANG TILL DEATH "!! Seeing only such punishment the others would not only go away against such crimes but also start respecting women/girls more. .... So it should be Hang till death or shoot at sight!!.......... Manish N. Cheers!!

Normally i am not for violence - unless its restricted to the silver screens. But in horrendous instances like rape and especially when it involves minors - i think public hanging would make a good example out of the culprits. But then in india - its the woman who is going to be paraded around, as the culprits get away easy. Sad state of affairs indeed. Hope this changes in the coming years.

I appreciate ande respect the views of Kavita but beg to differ as besause what she is demanding is quite impossible and impracticable. Law can punich a person but cannot kill the demon nside her. And if her arguments are taken into consideration then the only solution which can be made out is to just kill the wrong-doer. Is it possibele???

he has been punished for what he had done . he has done it and court has given the punishment as per law. no one can deny that Here the culprit is our law system in which everyone can use its slipping ends. by a good advocate. if somebody is to blame that id the laws indian penal code has got so many flaws, a medical report could save a man from hanging. a dgp cant influence the court and officials,in this case ithink the media hype has created this fuss. i believe the advocate has played the game. this happens everyday in our courts. a good advocate plays the job and big guns are always saved. media should focus upon this!
