Nitesh I agree with you, the period of punishment should be extended. The punishments  should be made more severe only then the crime rate will come down.......

Yes, a more severe punishment was required for Mr. Rathor to set an example for future. But still hope is there that once he is held responsible for other charges he will get a severe punishment.  I am sure that our judicial system will award him severe punishment to set an example

Ever wondered why the accused is laughing, smiling or smirking, is he cocking a snook at the system which could not do much to him despite a person losing his or her life to his actions

Yes, I wish such procedure is available in our Penal Code.

But, alas no.

Anyway, finally the mighty has fallen to the persistent efforts of the meek.

Thanks to the belated support of the media and the general public.

Thanks Ms Kavita for your ref.

The case is not only molesting the minor but also forcing her to suicide?????

So investigate & if not guilty, set him free or Hang him. Why nobody is demanding "Hang till Death" and hang him publicly.

One & Half year punishment is actually the encouragement to all the B's like Rathore.

Unfortunately the offence is one of moral turptitude. Whatever punishment given is still not enough. Justice is served is his review is denied and he is made to serve the time without any let off for ANY reason

Justice in Ruchika murder case is seems not really done. The punishment/verdict came after almost two decades seems just a symbolic. Judge must consider the way to maximize the punishment. If the person found guilty in multiple courts, he/she should be awarded a minimum punishment equivalent to the time (months/years) he/criminal drags the case. In this case why it should not be 15-20 years. What is the use of fighting for two decade just for 6/18 months? Criminal must also be punished for delaying the proceedings at least by similar period. This shall definitely help to speed up the proceedings.

I would like to ask one question : Ruchika committed suicide three years after her molestation by Rathore.

During this time , Rathore ensured that she was expelled from her school , and harassed her brother. What did her parents do during this period ?

I would like Rathore to be punished for molestation , and for ensuring Ruchika's expulsion from school. In fact the principal of the school should also be hauled up for not being brave enough to resist Rathore.

However , I do not think Rathore should be held responsible for Ruchika's suicide.

Rathore should get the punishment which would have been given to any other person for similar offences ; the fact that he was the DIG of Police when he committed these offences should not have any bearing on the case.

It should not be that the higher you are , the greater should be the fall.
