Dear Sheetal, Thanks for referring. Regret have to differ from your view Rumour or Rumor is a tool in communication wherein the veracity is unclear. Meaning the truth or untruth is still not confirmed. How it is used is extremely important. And is a very effective tool in responsible hands. Consider for instance the example from Mahabharata: "Drona spreads fear and destruction in the Pandava army. He seems invincible but Krishna tells Yudhisthir and Arjun that Drona can be defeated. “ If he were to hear that his son, Ashwathama is dead, he would loose interest in life and throw down his weapons, “says Krishna. Yudhisthir consults Bheem who kills a huge elephant that was also named Ashwathama. Bheem roars, “I have killed Ashwathama”. Drona hears his word and shouts back “ I will not take your word for it, let Yudhisthir say so “Yudhisthir repeats” Ashwathama is dead” and then he mutters to himself, “ Ashwathama, the elephant”. Upon hearing Yudhisthir, Drona lays down his weapons and is killed".

Management by Rumourmongering is an in thing today. In times of crisis the management itself creates a rumour (fire) indirectly, and then steps in to do the fire fighting

i think rumour market can work during crisis but under the condition that you have done sufficient analysis of the rumour on impact of the market. Or you should be confident in the sense that whatever the impact on market is, you should make money by implementing your strategies. I think its good for short term but not for long term.

I think you are right Sheetal. Rumour market can't work in crises period. Intially it may help in some cases, but for long term it is not workable. It may sometime came as a boomrang. But you can't stop anybody from spreading rumours, as the decision may came from managment & in this situation you have to just obey the given orders/task/work.
