Safety in Construction

I am quite new to the Indian Construction Field. I had been in the middle east for 13 years looking after Health & Safety. Here in India it is entirely different. There are a few companies that are OHSAS18001 Certified. There are multinational Companies having joint ventures with Indian companies. There are big clients (Indian) who give contracts to construction companies in India. It is sad to say (nothing offensive against anyone) we are specialists in criticizing and do not come up with solutions. Our attitude is our biggest enemy. Our people are not able to identify the Hazards - either they are used to see it or do have little awareness. More awareness is required amongst the Senior Site Management which does not exist. People do Safety related courses (IOSH, NEBOSH, OSHA etc) to get a job outside that pays much. Why can't we have similar courses in India according to the Indian Standard. Come on my countrymen 'Wake Up' it is not only about construction safety, it is also about the well being of our fellow countrymen.
