Safety awareness is not there in most of the cases, in the first instance. Then comes the safety practices. It can be reduced by taking detailed risk assessment for hazardous jobs first , then downsized to nowmal jobs.

Educated peoples are also not following the safety practices.. Every one want to dominate another one and have to go first. But its not a race... But we can make it followable if punishment is to be given at right moment... Then automatically every one will follow the safety practices.

Both these sides are right and in fact one leads to one another. 'Safety practices are not followed in India'...leads to...'Educate all through media daily in safety matters, daily'.

We have long forgotten "Prevention is Better Than Cure"! Its our laid back attitude, and undue avoidable courage that make us to ignore safety practices in India! For instance, every lift in the country should be allowed to function only with the valid licenses from the Fire Department. Notices are there, but not renewed - its a daily sight! All the self financing housing societies are having fire extinguisher systems, and how many of them conduct "Mock Drill" to see that how these equipment function in times of crisis, and how the people respond! "Charity begins at home", "Stitch in Time Saves Nine" are some of the adages we should bear in mind! Let us begin to look these aspects from the family safety point of view, to begin with, then this will become aware in societies, public places, districts, states and Nation!

Good morning sir ,I respect your written view which is more extent relevant in present india but....Educated to media would not be only solution to change this system, because education of our country is very poor, we are not feeding those thing which can change the hidden attributes which is hardly visible to socitey.

safety practices are not followed in India. Safety in many leading industries is driven by top management. But, the middle management which is well aware of safety practices tend to or forced to neglect safety due to work or target pressures. However, the failure to follow safety practices at workmen or casual labour level is due to unawareness about the importance of safety. Safety is talked about and attempts are made to enforce only when there are comfortable job targets. And also there is typical Indian tendency of adhering to rules only when somebody is behind us with stick in hand. This is so evident because the same people who do not follow safety practices in India (even being aware of safety), adhere to safety rules & practices when they go to other nations for job.

after giving proper training and education, they are not using, they dont think about the after effects, just the comfirtness in the work.Especially in working in Hights(Huge towers Buildings),people feel the safety belt is uncomfirt in their work....

Educating the people and spreading awareness is necessary to develop better safety practices. But after that what is most important is the people whom you will educate will follow the steps in practical or not. This is like getting education in academics and no application in profession. So people must be trained to both know and follow the rules.

I find it funny to see that in our country the safety practices are hardly followed though they are all written in books.
1.In all cities & towns we find people walking on roads, whereas along side speeding vehicals(All Types) are moving, resulting into accidents everyday.
2.Two wheeler rider is supposed to wear Helmets but the pillion driver need not wear (Mumbai City),If an accident takes place will the pillion driver not get hurt or his life is of no importance.
3.Hanging on the foot boards of buses & Trains, how far these are safe?
4.Seat belts are compulsory for four wheelers, followed by Bus drivers,Truck drivers,Local taxi drivers,Tempo drivers.
These are only few that I have indicated,Let people speak what they see.
What are the Causes & remedies.
