Reservations are always in govt orgs.. and the drop outs do not open them.. do they? Managers having poor marks has nothing to do here becasue either they have establlished the platform or they have enough experience and to add to this let me tell you there are companies where they don't even ask for marks card if they see right talent in you.

Reservations were introduced as a short term measure, but it is continuing for decades because of the vote bank politics of the political parties. The courts are playing spoil sport with their judgements that people of the reserved class can compete in the non reserved vacancies but they do not give the same opportunity to the non-reserved class to be selected there are no reserved category applicants for the class of job in any particular year but these are carried forward as backlog and ultimately filled by the candidates belonging to the reserved class thereby the restriction placed by the courts that reservations should not be more than 50% is defeated. This is the major reason for brain drain from this country.

Dear Nega Singh,

Education (Qualifying degree) is like a passport for jobs. It does not stop there. When we grow over the profession, we learn & acquire knowledge and skills specific to the field of demand. The selection process, many a time, matches the profile of the candidates with the job to be performed. At times(it is always), job demands interdisciplinary skills and knowledge with due diligence for applications. So the selection committee fix a basis for criteria of selection which may be strict to guys like you & I. But, the Employer is requiring a candidates with similar or almost closer to the mental caliber. That's all.

I dont agree with anyone here. How can managers' marks not be seen for their entire career, and nowadays, they check everything, including background checks by HR, ridiculous!!!

I agree with you Nikhil,

I passed my Masters degree in 1982. Till date, no body asked my mark-sheets. Only in 2010(earlier also I made trips), when I was proceeding abroad, for visa reasons they asked my degree certificates. That too, in the Embassy not by the Employer.

Thanks for referral Nikhil.

I totally disagree with Nikhil, bec reservations are always there in the corporate sector, as poor people are always given priority over elite people.

When we look at the selection criteria at interviews, we see that the CEOs and Managers themselves have poor marks and are dropuots, but these same people keep looking for high performance from their subordinates and newcomers. What is the reason for this trend?
