Mr. Kasturi, a number of entrepreneurs I know of in manufacturing segment are in great fix like your friend, especially when they based their business purely on Government orders! If he continues on his strength with this dependence factor, surely he would be declared NPA, and getting loan for working capital would be difficult for him. If he wants to sutain, he has to opt for JV, and create demand from private entities across the country. I'll surely suggest if any one seriously think of partnering with him, if you can share the details on mail.

A friend of mine has a Electrical Transformer manufacturing unit in Chennai. He can make up to 1 Meg transformers and has orders from Govt to the tune of 4.5 Crores. Due to inordinate delay in payments from the Govt. he got into negative cashflow and reached a stage where he has absolutely no room to play with the banks. In this situation should he sustain and drag his feet along or sell it off. I keep advising him to sustain, but because he can't deliver the 4.5 crore orders, he will have to pay penalty and again the cycle continues. Is there a way out and can he think of joint venturing or raising capital or subcontaract to bigger companies etc?
