Not for Indian economy especially to The faarmers(Raw materail Suppier). In SEZ all Big Company will come, they will process the raw material and will earn lot of as compare to that of farmers. Give opportunity to local people to open Small Industries not to MNC and other big company. So that fair distribusion of money.

SEZ is boon but not at the cost of agriculture land. We should not give agriculture land for SEZ. Agriculture land is required very much for future as much as SEZ. We can give the isolated land for SEZ which can help to develop those area too to minimize the pressure from Metro cities.

hello Isha, thanks for referral.i don't think it is wise to convert agriculture land into commercial one.farmer may get good money but do you think he will remain as an agriculturist? never.if we start making this conversions what about food production.instead, with the anticipated money from commercial aspects, let Govt.help farmer for his all needs and encourage to grow more and become self reliant where both Govt.citizens and farmers all are beneficiaries.also we have think of effect on climate with rapid industrialisation.

In India we Indians are crazy for money and will do anything to make money. Of course not all but majority of us. The SEZ are money spinning schemes where by you can take farmer's lands at throw away prices and build real estate in the name of industries and later selling them at exorbitant prices. All rich men, politicians and government officials are involved. In the name of SEZ they are spoiling and destroying agricultural lands whereby agricultural production is getting reduced which is felt in the price spiraling of all essential food grains, cereals, pulses etc. Even dairy products are becoming costlier and drinking water is sold at higher cost than even milk. I am an engineer by profession and passed engineering 40 years ago studying five years and studied all branches including our own electronics engineering and hence an inkling of nature as we were forced to study civil engineering, survey, survey camps etc and hence have some feelings for nature.
When I came and occupied my apartment at Vada Palani in Chennai we had lots of squirrels, sparrows, parrots roaming and chirping in the morning. Now they are all gone and only doves are seen. Even the crows are vanishing. But the stupid man is not noticing it buying all luxurious items and making an artificial life destroying the nature and polluting atmosphere. Already nature has started giving him back what he gave nature. But who cares as long as You enjoy your riches.

SEZ is not a boon to farmer. By showing money, we are killing our farmers. One fine day, we will not have sufficient food, if this continues. In US, law protects farm land. But, we are removing the farm land by the name of SEZ. I can illustrate one good example here. Duck and golden egg store. This exactly matches with the SEZ and farmer.

I think converting agricultural land to any other purpose is not a good idea. Farmers are in that profession by virtue of their landholding , and also because that is what they have been for generations ; that is their area of expertise. Asking them to give up all that and become something else , is bad for them , and bad for the country. After all , it is a fact that India needs agriculture. Some time back , there was a global shortage of rice and other food crops. India had , at that time , exported rice to other Asian countries which needed it. If India shifts away from agriculture , then a time may come when India will also be in the same situation of having to import rice to feed its millions. At that time , the middle and upper classes will survive , while the poorer classes will perish since imported rice may well be out of their reach. If a farmer has to earn his livelihood by any other means , he will have to migrate to a city. Imagine millions of farmers leaving their villages and flooding the cities - a disaster that cannot be compensated for by what we get from the SEZs. After all what will the SEZs produce ? Not cheap water , electricity or medicines ; instead they will be used to produce mobile phones or other such equally elite products , none of which will benefit the common man.
