This news is all over the place and for that matter this news is getting more importance than the recent frisking of Dr.A.P.J.Abdul kalam by the US airport authorities. What is wrong with detaining a person if there is a security risk at that time, we know that he may not be involved in any thing that is close to violent, but then Media is projecting him as if he was the only person to be detained in the whole of India, there are thousands of people who go through this process and not just Shahrukh khan. So with all the recent happenings do you think people over reacting to it?

A well planned drama by SRK. He want to promote his new movie.. "My name is Khan..." for which a global release is planned.

This is just a marketing trick..

Yes, we are,

For one thing, SRK's face may be familiar to Indian, here & abroad, but need not be to Whitemen, so detaining him for questioning is routinely done as to the purpose of visit by a foreign pass-port holder, and in the Western world, especially after Sept, 11th., any person having a muslim name is questioned for longer periods.

I wish the same kind of protest is made by us when Dr. Abdul Kalam was searched by the Americans, against the Intl. protocol norms, as is accorded to a Head or past Head of State.

There is nothing to over react here. Mr. SRK has forgotten that he is a also a human being and whatever the officials have done at the airport was their duty. Just about a month back our respected former President Mr. APJ Abdul Kalam also had to go through frisking again by an American Airline security, did anyone of us raise this on this Forum or anywhere else?????? Then why such a big noise when Mr. Khan had to go though a little trouble. There will be so many innocent people going through this everyday without any fault of theirs......

Yes..media is  reacting too much now a days, its not doing their duties beyond indulging and creating unnecessary hype for circulation or TRP ratings what ever...in our country we have lot of issues and problems like poverty ,child labor, female trafficking,corruption,unemployment...and so on....but media always concentrating on useless things....this is too much!

You are right Yash, even I think we are over reacting. If these celebrities also think they have been insulted, they are wrong. Outside the television and public, they all are after all Indian citizens and as a citizen of India, they should also get treated similar to other Indians. Ok...they are good people but they should allow the authorities to do their duty. If they don't follow the rules and regulations, then other corrupted officials may take advantage of their power and do some nuicense.
Its also a fault from media side. I think they are highlighting this issue more than what is required. Their work is to cover news which is necessary for us. These type of news once or twice is ok...but its a very bad habit to media to show less important things again an again on unnecessary topics. Only because of this they are getting a bad image in public.

Hi,

I think media's only duty is to cover the news which is related to film stars. Every time there is something related to these stars media is just making a hype of it. Why media people are giving it too much importance. We have many other issues and many things are happening in our country which needs media attention.

Shahrukh Khan's retention doesn't need this much hype. And the airport personnel were just doing there duty...and for security reason it is absolutely correct to have a check on everybody.

And the other thing ....take an example of Sanjay Dutt, a big name in Film Industry... but was involved in Mumbai blasts....if did it for his own country.....so its not a big deal if they are questioning Shahrukh Khan...he is just a film start like an other Indian..and they were just asking him some questions so why he is crying for it. I heard Salman Khan’s comment on this issue which was very realistic and genuine…Shahrukh Khan should learn from Salman. Being a famous personality never gives you a license for everything.

I my opinion if you are on right path then you shouldn’t worry about anything.

If our President, Mr. APJ Abdul Kalam can welcome such queries then why a film star making hype of this?

Every country has right to do anything to protect itself from terrorism and attacks.

Regards,

Rohini.

There is nothing wrong in interrogations at airport and no one has to be spared from it. Even whn APJ Kalam was interrogated, he as a intelligent & law-abiding person obeyed the rules and never made a fracas abt it. But this guy always has to make some sort of nuisance & stay in news. He culd have easily brushed off saying it was a routine thing but as usual likes to trigger unnecessary sensationalism. And obviously wht does the media want, a likely fodder to their plethora of insignificant issues.

Since I respect this forum I am reacting. Other wise I stopped reading or talking about this Shahrukh detention issue. There is a meaning if we react when it happened to our President. It is so unfortunate that we are living in “NO MEDIA” era. The “MEDIA” term has become a synonym to “ENTERTAINMENT”. Jest watch, read, listen and enjoy... don’t react.

Another media Hype to gain sympathy and attraction of Indian fans..! Dramatically perfect..

US is anyway doing an excellent job anyway... India should learn the way US authorities work towards security threats..!

I think the Indian media is overreacting over the detention case of Shahrukh khan. So what if he is an Indian  superstar, there is no protocol for superstars that they cannot be questioned as there is a protocol for the Bureaucrats.

Recently when our former President Mr. APJ Abdul Kalam was questioned by the foreign airlines that was wrong and the airlines was asked to give a letter of apology to Mr. Kalam. This issue was a on the ethnicity of our Indian pride for which media didn't show any concern for the Indian pride and they forget the news with in 1 day. Whereas who is Shahrukh Khan, a normal Indian citizen is like you and me and like any other Indian citizen and they are liable to get questioned and even get detained if the their department feels so.

SO it's not a national issue which media is trying to portray. Even if the biggest superstar Amitabh Bachchan get questioned he has to go throught the procedure and no protocol can save him from going through this procedure.

Yes, seems like the media has hyped the situation and people are over reacting.  Detaining any person for security questionnaire is not against the rule - no matter how popular he is.  The final point is he was let go after a thorough questionnaire session.  There seems to be nothing wrong with that.

Yes people are over reacting to it, even Dr. Abdul kalam obliged the airprot authorities when the former president was detained, but then why this all the drama when shahrukh was detained, its a total filmy thing that they are doing and unncessary PR that is being done, and even Salman khan had a point when he said "it's good that they have that kind of tight set up due to which there are no incidents like 9/11 in US because of this". He might be a great star in India and to Indians across the globe, but then he is just a visitor to US like any other normal person..so no point in over reacting, remember US is not the same country after 9/11 they have beefed up security heavily and India can learn something from that.
