Definitely talented employees should be preferred.Kindness is good but a company needs talent to make progress.If a company has kind people but with no talent then what is the use of such kindness for the company.Kindness can only help in making relations but to improve the productivity talent is needed.

kind nature matters, but not higher than tallent. trick to overcome such unkind talented person is to grow urself more talented than the others. And remember, its not easy to get Talent & kind nature both in one person.

Talented employee even with unkind nature will augur well as talent will definitely open the initial door. However , the right kind of attitude , that is what one does with the talent, is that which matters most. At a particular profile of ones profession, the differentiator is the attitude. Kindness referred to here, to my understanding is a behavioural attribute which manifests itself in being alive to situations by associating with them emotionally.If I have understood the originator of the debate right, then, Kindness here is an absence of arrogance, negative shade of aggression, amenability to being flexible and ofcourse- courteous. I will take Indu Thakkar's argument with a pinch of salt because in my 26 Years of experience in various capacities in several fields, I have seen organisations doomed because of a lack of compassion, be it Govt , semi govt or private.Talent and skills can be developed.The individual just has to be receptive and wiling to learn. Talent is once again not an across the board attribute of an individual. It is an aptitude or the ability for excellence in a particular field.Not withstanding any of the above, this is definitely an enticing subject.

I believe a company should look for intrinsic values in the candidates, to be precise "Attitude" is what matters and should be of prime importance while recruiting an individual. A person with a right frame of attitude(suitable for your organization) will always be an asset to the company, talking about talents and skill can be taught to the persons who are willing to learn it but no one can teach a right attitude to someone.

It depends on the position of the person who is talent and unkind.Because of his unkindness he will spoil whole show by demotivating the team. A company is not made by a single talented person, but it is built by a team. A kind person at higher position with little talent can help a lot to build a company, because in a team at least you can expect some 80% of the people are talented.And these people with little guidance of this untalented kind person can do wonders...

If leader is caring enough people go out of the way to complete the given task.Here I will give one example which some may find as irrelevant.Compare contry of Switzerland with Afganistan.Switzerland never had a war with any country.Afgans had attacked India and other countries throughout the history.See their financial and social conditions.One is caring one is downright violent.
