Cricket which used to be called as a gentleman's game is no more a gentleman's game as these day's cricketers are at eachothers throat and are always found sledging. And in IPL though we have not seen any such acts but surely cricket & entertainment have merged really well, and has bought more people than ever before, and with entertainment quotient high with IPL cricketers have found a new lease of life which was a bit tad boring earlier, now they are part of various promotional events and doing many things that are very much new to them.

And now news is that top cricketers from IPL both Indians and international players will be part of a reality show Khatron ke khiladi (fear factor) which will be hosted by Priyanka chopra and to get this deal the Colors channel have payed IPL nearly 100 crores, the reality show bug has hit cricketers also.  So what do you think people, Should cricketers take part in Reality shows?

World’s a-changing Kavitha. If Cricket has evolved and commercialized, so has the gentlemen of this game. And what is evolvement and commercialization all about apart from entertainment and of course money. Expecting an IPL player to be a constant part of India XI – isn’t it too big???

Gone are the days when models and actors used to form the world of entertainers, and movies and shows were the chosen platforms. Players (read cricketers) have entered the fray and joined the bandwagon in the evolved TV too. Gone are the days when they used to do what they were best in, now-a-days they do all they can and the mantra is MONEY. Rake in as much as you can as tomorrow even this all might just not exist.

When cricketers can be LAUGHING BUDDHA of comedy events, why forbid them from being part of reality shows? I’m all in supporting them, as trust me they would be frantically searching for a job otherwise.

This is not correct. These cricketers should not concentrate on other things & that too on a reality show. Too much of media exposure is not good for them as we have already seen earlier that too much of media exposure affects a sportman's performance. So, they should rather keep more concentration on their game than on reality shows since in Cricket they can earn more and in Reality shows, and that too a fear factor kind of show where they can easily get injured themselves and will remain out of cricketing action for a long time...so reality shows for cricketers is a no no from my side...........

Good thinking and makes a lot of business sense! :)

its really not surprising anymore. Any brand that has its shutters open for business will always llok for opportunities and strategies that will make them more money. What is it with cricketers?? They are human beings too. The more who join this bandwagon the better the chances of the new and budding players to take the centre stage!!

Lets understand one thing till such time that the Sachins, Dravids and Laxmans keep themselves available the younger generation is never going to get the opportunity to ahowcase their abiliites. So if the older cricketers do get a chance to showcase different skiils its better for the younger ones to take their chances. How else is the wheel going to turn??

Lets be a bit more progressive in our approach here. I think its good to make hay while the sun shines!!

Dear Navjot, just think who has given a commercialised image to Cricket? None other than Media and Entertainment shows. Cricketers get more money here than that of Games. Many a times, they get a lot of popularity here too. Just for the sake of gaining these, when cricketers give their attention here, always it has affected their performance. Thats why Iam saying they should only concentrate what they are actually there for. To play cricket. Not to entertain by any other thing which they are not meant for.

I rather feel that theres no harm in participating in Reality shows...

Its all Individuals decisions wether to be a part of any activity of not.. taking in to consideration Pros and cons of the show or game show.....

Finally... what need to be taken care is surely the What kind of benefits one will be getting and It shud not AFFECT THE OVERALL IMAGE OF THE GAME AS WELL INDIVIDUAL HE IS ASSOCIATED WITH....

Rest of the things are binary and plays less role for in taking the decision for assocaiting with Reality Show......

It may sound orthodox, but cricketers should be playing cricket rathar than taking part in reality shows, otherwise where is the difference between a cricketer and an entertainer? The basic idea about being a cricketer is playing cricket with best effort, rathar than winning reality shows. If, the question is about marketing oneself, then a cricketer markets himself with his performance on the field, not on screen. So, please make our nation proud by winning matches, not by winning "Khatron ke Khiladi"

Hai,

If cricketers takes part in reality shows, they will loose interest in cricket. Better to avoid reality shows.

Kavita Ji

I fully agree with you, cricket is like religion in our country, & majority of population supports this sports. fortunatlly one side we have world's best cricket talent available in India but other side we have people who does not allow our cricketers to concentrate on their basic job.

Because of all these media activities player get diverted from their basic skills & finally it results us with loosing the ICC ranking , loosing tournament & loosing trust & image among more than 100crore supporters.
