the genesis of the bribery in all the society starts wit and started with bringing gifts to each others. So evenin our normallife in maimtaining inter relationship this culture of offering gifts more than one flower or any thing costing more then Rs one should be strictly prohibited to kill this jiant corruption system.

Well, it's like asking whether it is okay to accept bribes. And the answer is NO, NEVER. Doctors should work and earn their livelihood and stop going the bureaucrat-way of living off on perks.

I think they anyway make enough money to go for these petty ways .but jokes apart Drug manufactureres surely know how to influence docs by these drooling gifts .Patient faces the music for all of this .

Docs have long accepted gifts. The reciprocation Arvind is mostly prescribing that particular brand's drugs. Now: The current trends in these gifts is increasingly costly, perks include many services like travel assistances. The problem clearly is that there are no restraints on "what" could be gifted! There being no just measure of identifying this, its in the best interest of the common public that these "gifts" be not allowed at all!
