Should Dowry a bailable offence?

The Union law department has launched an exercise to tone down the law on matrimonial cruelty, including cases of dowry harassment. Effectively, dowry harassment may soon become a bailable offense. To protect social fiber of family life and check alleged misuse of the law, the department is contemplating changes in Section 498-A of the IPC that defines the offense of matrimonial cruelty. The law department is now exploring viability of changing the law to make the offense, including dowry harassment, as a bailable and compoundable. Should Dowry a bailable offence?

Dowry should be non-bailable offence. To avoid the misuse of S.498A speedy investigation about FIR should be done by police.

In my opinion "the act should also consider husband's side", the act itself has many loop holes in it, without evidences the wife can raise the finger to any of her husband's relative".And in today's worls every woman has became so intelligent and self-dependant that "dowry" became just the word for harassing the husband and his relatives. I think censor this act.

Dowry offence should be non-bailable. To avoid the misuse of S.498A the primary investigation about fraudulence complaint should be done by police.

What is the whole point if in the end the person is going to get a bail and wll be out free to do what he wnats to. It can be dangeroud for the girl and her family in case the man thinks of taking revenge. This law will make it easy for the offender to get out without anything serious.
