Countering a few arguments against homosexuality, we have: 1) It is against the "Indian Culture" Counter: It is the BRITISH who introduced the law in India. Before then, there were even KINGS who had male consorts In the 4th century AD,Vatsyayana(Author of Kama Sutra)devoted an ENTIRE section of his book to the idea of queerness among which homosexuality is a subsection and he treats it as normal. Also, several temples have carvings on their walls indicating men making love to men!By criminalizing homosexuality, it isnt our own culture we are embracing! It is the british law!! 2)It is not "natural". Counter: Research has shown that around 800 species of animals examined exhibit homosexuality! Live and let Live people!! Whom other people want to LOVE is their own business!

Yes...........Because marriage is all about spending the rest of life with someone... Now if for the sake of culture gay people are not allowed to marry then it won't help in anyway rather it will create problems in the married life. Now we should get rid of that old mentality.

I think gay marriage should be legalised. Times have changed and so should we and our mindsets. I have read and heard about people talking about Indian culture... They sadly miss the point. Our culture is not about confrontation but about bringing change by way of assimilation. Think about it.

I commented based on shalini sharma's comments... I saw your comments and i know that you work for the GOI organization... But let me tell you that your comments on men dressing indecently with piercings that you mentioned are not allowed in any IT companies, probably i think you would have seen some call center guys do that... but in an IT company specially an MNC, it is not allowed as per Dress Code... This should answer your phobia??

I would always be in support of a law supporting gay and lesbian relationships in india as it helps such kind of people to express themselves better... it breaks the barrier of mindset restrictions.... Give Freedom to everybody to choose what they like to do as long as they don't cause any problems to anybody ...

It is bcoz of these mindset restrictions , India is still slow in progress when compared with other countries, practically speakiing... this culture phobia is pnly on everybody's mind... it only a imagination and mindset restriction... break free from all these and think beyound ... Its a practical world out there... every person should be able his thoughts and expressions freely and its is he/she to make a right decision based on their after effects... for example it is only if you don't eat only then you feel hungry... food is available - Junk and Nutritious food... Its your decison that you make correctly to fulfill your appetite thinking which kind of food would be valuable for your health...

I go on with a debate with Shalini Sharma ... Let me highlight the point of Culture of India you mentioned... If you mentioned about culture, then why do Girls want to wear exposing and transparent dresses just to look good... Does this reflect our culture ?? I suppose you would have seen in TV or even in the Airport, that whenever a sports team is leaving or arriving or leaving, a woman in a well draped and dressed saree puts a tilak on every sportperson's forehead.. Why does the saree culture only reflect only at times when needed..?? I suppose you are a lecturer in CIT.. I am sure that you would have come across girls dressing up like the way i mentioned... Does this reflect Western Culture or Indian Culture as you mentioned ?? On the Contrary, Men have always dressed decently and look handsome and smart...

I commented based on shalini sharma's comments... Coming to your argument... I support that Gay and Lesbian Relationship law comes into effect soon in India... It will allow people to express their emotions and feelings without any mindset resttrictions... if any person would like to go for that kind of a relationship with the same gender... Its in the Likes and in the mind of the people whether they would like a gay or lesbian relationship... it will give them freedom to express themselves better without any mindset restrictions... In india , people are loved for their culture, but this should not put a barrier in expression of thoughts, emotions and feelings... Both are two different areas... everything should be allowed, its only then a individual will know what to choose based on their effects... its a practical world out there... and that's the reason why other countries are developing at a faster rate bcoz their practical, open minded and confident in their endevours.....

i said my argument based on a lecturer's comments on the post... When it comes it your perspective... I suppport for a Lesbian and Gay relationship law in effect soon in india, as it opens up eveybody's mind to choose what they want and not have fixed mindsets....

Till when we will take the help of culture. Every human has own right to take the self decision. If any body is happy with any one then that is his world. I support gay marriage because it will good for our country progress around of population. "LOVE IS BLIND " actually this line is looking truth now.

Yes, it should be allowed because at least it may stop gay guys from marrying with a girl. & it also minimize the % of divorce at some amount.

As if anybody have that type of interest then what can we do?

& everybody have right to live it's life as per personal interest.

& please go & research in our ancient books there are some kings who have kept somebody to full fill their bio-sexual desire.

& nothing wrong in it, as expert doctors have already written so many times on this topic.

Such type of people never attract towards opposite sex, so let them have the experience of their liking/desire.

No! Because its not natural. Although Marriage is not a natural consequence but it will have a bad impact on society. And what will be the ultimate result of that marriage? This is an out of the world mindset and should be vanished from the mind as soon as possible.

What is unnatural is not acceptable. Going beyond natural dictum and principles are not acceptable.  There always some extremities.  Gay marriage is one such extremity.  Legally it may be accepted by the Supreme Court. Debate is not about legality.

It has been argued time and again that these Gay/Lesbian relationships are personal choices.   It is also agreed that it has no bearing on the culture.  And yes history is replete with instances where gay relationship had existed.    This existed as an exception not as a norm.    Hetro-sexuality was not created by man, it is natural, as with animals, so with man.     If Gay/Lesbian relationship is OK because of a personal choice, there are numerous relationships that should be allowed because it is a personal choice.    Are we not hearing instances of "incest" in the society.   But do we approve it ?  We live in a society, and social norms are like disciplines that one needs to follow whether or not he/she likes it.    No one can disown the fact that Gay relationship exist, but then asking it to be legalised and encouraging it is like ecouraging and legalising killing, looting, rape and stealing; merely because one  may  feel it gives him happiness and arguably a personal  choice.

Well ....I see people debating in favour of gay marriage.....i think they are either crazy, half cooked, and dont understand what is the implication of allowance of such acts on the society...which means they are not the part of society.

My words might be harsh on this but please consider the youth of tomorrow if our thinking bends towards this ideology think how far our next generation will go...you guys just imagine children will have no descrimination between brothers and sisters , i hope u people understand if this continues one day it is for sure that brothers and sisters will marry each other......and i think  my friends on the other side will certainly not have any problem with this.

There is no need of total freedom...total freedom is equal to destruction...

gay marriage ...lesbian marriage is a form of some illness of mind and nothing else.....nature does not allow this....have u seen the same in animals.....they also follow the rule of nature.

We are the worst people in the world.....we are parasites...we live on others,we do what the western countries do...we call it developed ....which means we are under developed ...guys! guys! wake up.....understand our culture...its not caste, religion, its the indianess.....we are more developed than others.....India has the lowest rate of divorce cases than any other country, India has the lowest cases of 2nd marriage than any other country........if this is underdeveloped and only in terms of modernisation and money and luxury we coount development then I am sorry no one can debate with my friends on the other side.

If gay couples can regenerate according to the law of nature and without performing any unnatural actions, I will not object gay marriages but the proposition is rather impossible, I have to object it. Gayism and lesbianism are the cheap products of the diseased western culture that has spoilt the sanctity of the institution like marriage.

no...srinivas bro... here we are talking abt marriage not abt rules... for ruling we dont need to b straight / bi/ gay/ lesb... all we need is a power to rule... but marriage is a divine relation which is meant for only two pure hearts one of male n one of female.. and its a rule made my god... gayness is not a community or diff species.. they are male.. just suffering bcz of hormone imbalance... we medical science need to check out the cause behind it nd solve this...

Criminalization of such acts is not good for society but at the same time in greater benefit of society this should not be allowed. If one doesn't want to follow society he is free to do so but one must not ask for a certificate from society, if society considers something wrong it will oppose and if any individual thinks otherwise, he is free to walk on a different path.
