First, you need to ask yourself some important questions:

* Do you know what your HR department's reputation is among the employees? When HR is mentioned, do managers picture savvy strategists, backward bureaucrats, or pleasant, people-pleasers?

* Do employees understand and appreciate the importance of the HR department in furthering the organization's mission and objectives?

* Does the HR department make an effort to market its services to the organization? If it does not, then it has the reputation it deserves. You can, however, easily correct this reputation.

Being an HR we can understand it better..

An HR has to be people's person.. We need to brand ourselves.. market our good side and let people know what we do and why...

well Mr.Anand, it is one of the main area HR has to concentrate on boosting the brand image with out which the HR becomes non-friendly to the employees including the customers.

HR is like organisation Doctor. He should know the pulse of every employee. He should have at least one to one interaction with every employee. Then rest follows.

Department Objectives and Targets are to be reviewed against Performance Indicators & ACCORDINGLY, REVISED AT-LEAST IN EVERY SIX MONTHS. Feed-backs received from various people either through mechanism  existing in Internal systems or through conduct of local survey carried out as part of Audit system are to be analyzed in the light of the target set & objective achieved accordingly.

This keeps the system improved periodically. Also, help the corporate body overall.

Hr should find ways to improve the working of personnel and evaluate them for training needs etc. and also promotion for the deserving candidates.

Yes to meet the EE n ER requirements now. Because gradually HR dept. is getting different types of image in its customers. I would suggest HR should focus on regain its brand.

Determine Your HR Department's Current Reputation and Brand If you were to ask your employees today, "What does the HR Department do?"

would they mutter something unintelligible to you and make a run for it? If that is the case, your human resources department needs to rethink its role and do some in-house marketing, marketing research and public relations. so I feel HR also needs Branding to develop a connect rather than Just doing a file Job.
