Its true there were some problems in this CAT because it was the first time that online method was used in CAT exams so there were high chances of some sort of error to occur. Instead of taking pen and paper exams we should shift to online exam and its a good move. Many other exams are taken online nowadays like GMAT. Instead of again shifting to pen and paper pattern students should be given prior training classes of how to give exams.....and there are many online coaching websites for CAT nowadays so its not a big deal......... MOVE WITH THE TECHNOLOGY.......Don't let others to call us backward in any sense.......

a lot has been said about the online format but very less people are aware of the real scenerio('coz i have taken it this yr).every proceeding related to test except the answer key (obiviously) is carried out by invigilator themselves so.for students its just about clicking on to the desired choice.as far as , so called loss suffered by the students is concerned ,mostly participants who haven't paid much attention to the instructions provided at the start of the test manually and also to the 15 min online tutorial.ANYONE WHO COULD READ AND UNDERSTAND IS ABLE ENOUGH TO FACE ONLINE CAT.the only regretable aspect is the server crash that gave the format a bad spotlight ,its upto the organisers to take the precautionary measures and corrective actions to avoid it in future.but the moot point is that next year it is expected to be CAT( COMPUTER ADAPTIVE TEST )where difficulty level depends upon the previous answers(*this can't be confirmed*).but those who have suffered the fate got compensated ,so it can be discounted .i hope next yr iim's would come up with polished version of the same format (as they have confirmed its continuation).

Dear all, Implementation of any new step involves risk of failure at first instance. we should accept it sportingly, otherwise we can not grow. Online examinations has many plus points like transparency, speed of evaluation and above all it is ecofriendly also. We should support online tests. bye

students are used to giving pen and paper exams from their childhood(kg) to graduation.so suddenly online entrance tests are definitely uncomfortable. So in case of CAT, students should learn to manage these small changes before managing companies

If you are an IIM aspirant, you are ready to invest lacs of Rs for a two year course & when it's a fact that more than half of Indian CEO's are IIM/IIT alumni, this is bullshit to talk about mental conditions or small town or (even after graduation) you can't operate computers in this 21st century & when you are supposed to deliver consummate skills & become ace.
GMAT is online, why do we always resist positive changes, aren't students in India doing well in GMAT? The only thing is infrastructure to conduct such exams should be rock-solid.

pen and paper exams are outdated especially in management field.since we live in 21st century, we all should be familiar with computer and online facilities.moreover in the upcoming years we wont be having such entrance exams

Yes, they should be done in computerised format. This is 21st century. How many days will we spend in pen and paper exams which is not only tough to carry from one place to another but also, its checking needs to be done manually. In this process, there is a possibility of mistake which is not there in computerised format. The student gets his results instantly. The computerised format also saves lot of papers which is good for environment. So, every green mentality person should opt for computerised format.

online exam facilities should be given to only disabled students (it will really help them) and for students from remotest corner of the country. not for all. if all of them start taking it online, it is bound to crash.. and pen & paper can never go out of fashion

yes that is for sure and there is no doubt that pen and papar exams are far more better and correct than any online tests. In my opinion online tests are good for small education institutions or of a specific university colleges but a test like CAT should not be done through online means .It is so because students preparing for a test like CAT are very hard working. They do lot of homework before going for the exams and failure likes systemcrash and server downfall can be so frustrating and morale degrader and it could cause anxiety and tension among CAT students.

Online exams require that the students are bunched in batches and the tests get spread over several days. With the screen capture software installed the test papers of first few batches get circulating in the market as 'test dumps' and it helps the candidates of later batches with 'part paper leaked' advantage. This cannot be avoided as the test centres are outsourced and IIM will have no control over such centres. This does not happen when the test is conducted across the country in one go and in one time slot.

i agree with it, as u can easily observe tyhat a pen and paper format is far easier than that of onl9 test. onl9 test is more complicated for students as may be some of the students would not be able to access the branch of their follwed test center. also u cn see their are lots of news coming from that various students are been not allowed to give the examination due to some reason where these kind of situatuion was not earlier,

I agree with you Sarika!! I am really very tentative about online conduction of these important exams because if there was a nerd who would hack it... thinking of these consequences itself is not very endearing...

Here physical appearence between student and paper compulsory.Every one forgot we create the word online.Due to the online some distrubence can be occur. And also it leads to some confusion and also corruption with the center. The talented persons should loss their rank.So i oppose online.Plz support for pen and paper.
